Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc

So it's got a digital copy AND a DVD? Also, why can I not find any evidence of a 3D version being available in the set?

Especially something like Bolt. I know they're doing this as a market test and, if successful, they'll do it with a bigger title... but how can they get any meaningful data out of any title that isn't a hardware-moving "killer app"?

I can't imagine the human being for whom "You mean, I have to wait two more days to watch Bolt at home?!" is the final push that brings them to Blu-ray.

Don't worry; you'll pay again later for that.

Yep, DVD and digital copy (I don't want either). You can't find evidence of a 3D version being available because (everything I've read indicates that) a 3D version won't be included.

I love the reviewer pull-quote on the cover! They must have hot and cold running crack in the McClatchy Newspapers office.

No 3D. One of the "insiders" on Blu-ray.com said this won't be 3D at all. Odd since Disney already did 3D with Hannah Montana.

I won't be buying anaglyph 3D films while I know they are in the process of setting a new 3D standard for the format.

Last I heard they are evaluating four different 3D processes. I'm really looking forward to seeing quality 3D material in my home.

I couldn't care less about the lack of a 3D version.

I will be picking this one up as soon as it hits $20.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc

I think it's absurd to sell us a 3-disc version of a movie. All I want to see is the BD of Bolt and I have no use for a digital copy much less a DVD copy. I end up just giving these things away to family and friends. Yet, I'm stuck with paying a few bucks extra for it all. Not to mention, the packaging is so huge for these 3-disc sets, it's unbelievable.

^Some valid points but when my sister picked up HSM3, it was the same exact price that Disney would charge for a single disc new release BD - I expect Bolt will be available at most places for a similar price, so I'm fine with it...

3 years into the format the price should be dropping not staying the same and adding (for some) useless things to make the price valid. Were talking about two DVDs that cost pennies to Disney - yet they still maintain the same (or higher) MSRP.

But it's a new release. Dvd new release prices haven't gone down either. They've consistently stayed at the 15 to 18 dollar range.

In the first few years of DVD priced dropped at retail stores (from what they were originally selling Day and Dates for) - Blu-ray is clearing going up or staying the same in some cases. $30 for Sex Drive or $30 for Futurama this week at Best Buy.

I just got the movie and there's no slip cover and two of the 3 discs are DVDs.

Of course they are....it is advertised with a digital copy (which would be on a DVD), and the DVD version....I didn't think this was a surprise to anyone?

I saw HSM3 for around $39 at my local K-Mart. I've never been happier not to have kids.

I don't mind not getting a slip cover, but it does seem like it was meant to come with one.

Don't they both come on 1 disc in some sets? That's what I expected with this one.

They are using the DVD disc that comes from the DVD set. That disc doesn't contain a digital copy as part of its content. I believe there have been a few releases that contain normal content plus a digital copy. In fact, I think the DVD disc in my Hellboy II Blu-ray has some special features in addition to the digital copy.

Correct. The Mummy III is like that too.
