Has anyone bought Blu-Movies before getting a Player?

I don't know if I am the only one. I know that very soon I will be getting a PS3 mainly for the blu-ray and knowing this I have bought two titles so far before I bought the player. I am buying a player on the 7th and I have bought two blu-ray movies/tv shows so far. Sleeping Beauty and Smallville Season 7. I was glad when I bought Sleeping Beauty that it came with a extra DVD. So I was still able to watch it. Anyone else do this or is it just me being weird?

Lasy year many people owned a fairly large collection before they even owned players thanks to the very generous deals on discs the BDA was handing out. Its not unusual.

I bought my first LD before I had a player.

I bought my first DVD before I had a player.

I bought my first HD DVD before I had a player.

I bought my first Blu-ray before I had a player.

Incidentally (but not coincidentally), in each case, the movie was Blade Runner.

I bought a copy of Texas Chainsaw Massacre last year, when someone - I think Family Video - had it mispriced for, like, $8 and change. I was planning on getting a new TV & player (which I did a couple months later), and that was just too good a deal to pass up.

Thanks to the boon of the internet (and this site) I had tons of DVDs before I got a DVD player. I really miss WhatsHowNow.com tag-teamed with Ghost Mouse on loop I must have had enough copies of Titanic on DVD to actually sink the Titanic!

Hell yeah, I traded in about about eight copies of Titanic back then to Sam Goody.

I had about 8-10 BD's before I got my player.

Same thing with DVD. I had about a dozen before I got my player.

Where's the fun in having new hardware if you've got nothing to use with it on day one?

Yeah, they had a pretty poor selection IIRC. It was a handful of South Park DVDs, Titanic, and some BMX game for PSX. Game Stop hated me for the 10 copies of BMX I traded in and Warehouse music hated having a whole row devoted to Titanic. Good times.

Yep. I had about 5 Blu-ray movies before I got a player. I went a slightly different route by getting an LG HD DVD / Blu-ray ROM player for my PC which outputs to my Panasonic 50" Plasma. Eventually, I'll get a standalone player, but I'm in a holding pattern at the moment--due to wanting more Blu-ray titles (I can't afford both).

I had 24 titles before getting my player. Most of them from the DD 25% sale and Amazon's Black Friday deals.

Finally picked up a PS3 two weeks ago with the 150.00 back through Amazon/Sony Style.

wow thought I was the only one that did I was wrong. I will be getting a PS3 soon after I have 2 on blu. But I am working backwards. First I buy a couple blu-ray movies then I get the PS3 then I am saving up for a 32 - 40 inch HDTV. Until then the PS3 will be in the living room which has a HDTV.

I bought my first Blu-ray discs with my Blu-ray player (through an Amazon deal), but not beforehand. I did get my first DVDs before my first player, back in 1999.

Buying blu-rays before owning a player is like buying condoms...
