Keep watching. The episodes are spotty. Some are grainy and a little softer than other scenes (which I think is due to the camerawork), but there are plenty of times when the picture is absolutely stunning and quite third dimensional.

The first Blu-Ray I watched was Ultraviolet. Thankfully, some titles notwithstanding, Blu-Ray has come a long way from that. I don't remember what was the first Blu-Ray I purchased.
The first HD DVD I saw/purchased was The Last Samurai.

Re: First High Definition film watched?
When HD DVD first hit stores in April 06 I bought it and watched The Last Samurai.
My first Blu-ray was September of 07 and the movie was I believe POTC: Curse of the Black Pearl.

First on HD-DVD was 300. It came with my player via an eBay lot as HD-DVD was beginning to die and everyone was dumping stuff on there for pennies on the dollar.
First Blu-Ray was The Simpsons Movie. That was actually the first Blu-Ray I got too, a couple months before I would get a PS3 and be able to watch it.

If all goes well today, I will either watch Planet Earth (UK version) or Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Premium Edition) (First Press Limited Edition) (R2 Japan SteelBook) as my first Blu-ray film watched.

Re: First High Definition film watched?
It was the HD DVD version of Troy. I watched it on an 55" 1080i TV and the PQ improvement with respect to the DVD version was outstanding. Immediatelly bought into HD DVD/Bluray and later on upgraded to 1080p TV. I have to say that going from 1080i to 1080p wasn't that much of an improvement, except that my TV grew 18" bigger :-)

Honestly, I can't see the "extreme" difference between 1080i and 1080p. I'm viewing on a 65" rear-projection tv.

The Simpsons Movie looks so damn good on BD.
I THINK my first HD film was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, but I'm not sure.
