Hercules, Xena, Highlander Series coming to Bluray!

Tvshowsondvd.com has pointed out that Highlander S1 is up for preorder (2/09 release) online only for $40. They contacted the studio and theyre releasing the first seasons of these shows, I guess to test the waters.

Cant wait for Hercules and Xena!

Ugh. How good will these look considering the source material?

Maybe this means Buffy and Angel some day...

I also have to question how good these will look on Blu-ray. They can always prove me wrong but the Highlander seasons on dvd already reveal limitations in the source material. These prices also seem very cheap for a full season if they intend to present every episode in true 1080p.

I had the same through with regard to the cheap pricing, which makes me wonder if they are simply craming the dvds onto Blu discs and calling it a day.

The first season of Xena was shot 16mm and most of the shows look terrible on SD. I can't imagine they will look better. And as said previously, the source material on later shows had many problems... But I will upgrade.... Hopefully they will include the show trailers in this collection...

Oh, and a play all option.

Well isn't the problem with these shows also the fact that they were edited on video? Perhaps if they rework the edits and the opticals they might suprise us on BD?

Now it has been reported that the Rep mispoke, and there are no plans for Xena & Hercules.

Meh, good news, but not very exciting, but this can open up more TV shows on BD...

Thanks for not tempting me to buy probably marginally improved product on Blu-Ray. I spent a lot of time looking for deals to put together the sets of Xena and Hercules and wasn't looking forward to doing it again anytime soon. I would be interested if they could make great improvement in the video quality but I have my doubts that it is even remotely possible.

The Xena episode "In Sickness and in Hell" there are power lines running throughout the video master. I can't even watch that episode... I doubt they will go back and reedit them...

So you would have no complaints if Lucas got to "fix" these up?

I have the SD version of the Highlander series. I love the series, but not enough to get BD. Also, if I remember, that first season was very low quality.
