Well, I have these all on standard DVD, I'd be willing to upgrade if I could get it much cheaper. The price they're asking is ridiculous.

Well, they announced individual "special edition" releases for the Back To The Future movies (2 & 3 are the same discs from the trilogy set; 1 is a 2-disc set with the trilogy disc and an extra disc of bonuses) on standard DVD. No Blu-Ray announcement, however.

I'll definately pick the 4th film on BD if it's a decent movie. I'll keep the HD DVD's until my 3 players die or the discs become unplayable.

Its not happening. Another title BD will overlook. I'll be buying the individual DVDs.

The Bourne Trilogy has dropped $6 on Amazon to $77.99. Still a lot higher than I'm willing to pay for 3 movies. I still think they'll have to get it down to $60 by release to get many sales.

It seems like they are really trying to milk the crap out you. For the HDDVDs they were giving away one of the titles and ther others were fairly priced. To see these discounted to $26 ea. is kind of insult to injury. First we're gonna put them out on a format that dies a quick death. Then we're gouge the shit out ya when it's released on the winning format. I have the HD's so I'm not concerned about the price, only the precedent it sets for future releases.

Exactly while I stick with my $5 Identity, Free Supremacy, and $15 Ultamatum.

Re: The Bourne Collection - 1/27/09

Got this today...and I can see why Universal is charging the extra $30-$40 for it.

It comes in a really nice case that has Bourne on the cover (magnetic) and you lift him up and the box unfolds that shows off some artwork and stores the 3 titles in normal BD cases. Really slick looking. If anyone is interested I'll post some pictures of it later tonight/tomorrow.

Gizmo, if you were on Meet The Press they'd be asking some pretty tough questions right now Sir on December 5th you stated, yet today you're telling me...how do explain the discrepancy? Tim Russert R.I.P.

Money is so tight right now the last thing I'm going to be upgrading is an HD title because the packaging is slick.

For those that do decide to upgrade or those finally able to see this in hi-def, I'm gald it's a substantial package for $100. Unemployment just doesn't go far enough to get box sets.

Would rather buy the Dirty Harry Collection for that price. At least that's more than 3 films.

Someone was nice enough to post it in the Blu-ray.com forum:

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=80158

Not sure if this is legal for me to do this but kindly delete if it does violate the forum rules.

Yeah, he's a friend of mine. My set looks exactly like that. Odd, the titles were not shrinkwrapped and didn't have the typical white sticker over UPC like Uni typical does with review copies. The set is all cardboard, but it has a great little magnetic latch that holds the movies inside.

Re: The Bourne Collection - 1/27/09

Nice looking set. This is one catalog set that should sell well, but I'm afraid that ridiculous price tag will scare off alot of folk. I'm passing until I see it in the $60 range.

As of pricing now, if you were to walk in to Best Buy, your choices would be the Bourne Trilogy DVD Set for $26.99, or the BD Set for $114.99.

That might be a difficult task of getting people to opt for the version that cost $88 more. I'm sure we'll see a sale price from Best Buy, but it'll still be a staggering difference. I can understand why alot of people don't want to upgrade catalog titles.

I wasn't going to go blu on Bourne, but that box is really nice looking... if I see it cheap sometime, I've got to grab it!

It's a nice looking set, but I'll wait until it's bargain priced a few years from now. My HD DVDs still work fine.

Re: The Bourne Collection - 1/27/09

The case seems to look/work a lot similar to the Bourne Collection that came out when Ultimatum first came out on DVD (not the current cheapo release) as far as that magnetic clasp goes.

Why would you "walk in to Best Buy"? It's about $75 at Amazon, which is about right for a new release of 3 very popular action movies. If you want BDs, the DVD price has no bearing.

Because not everyone shops at Amazon. If everyone did, Best Buy wouldn't exist.

And I'd have one less reason to laugh at people. Good point.

To add to what Gizmo said, the majority of people don't shop online. They go to a retailer and since Best Buy is the #1 HD retailer in the world, lots and lots of people will see the comparison I made regarding Bourne pricing.
