Sony controls it in the US, and as they have re-released it several times on DVD, and are releasing two other Luc besson films on Blu-Ray this year, I would expect to see this sometime next year.
FYI - the German Blu-Ray is confirmed as Region B only and will not play in unmodified US players.

The only significant improvement over the DVD that I'd like to see is the inclusion of the trailer and the theatrical cut. I don't prefer the theatrical cut, but it would still be nice to have.

I'm really surprised that Sony hasn't released this already. It's certainly a suitable film for the "early adopter" demographic.

It is discontinued. I bought a display item - no accessories except the remote and power cord - and I was so happy with it that I returned to Best Buy to get another one to ensure my ability to play Region B for the foreseeable future. The only major problem is that when it upconverts an academy ratio DVD it stretches the picture. So, I have an LG200 set to region A, another one set to region B and an Oppo that plays NTSC/PAL and all regions of DVDs.
