Re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?
Daredevil: Season Two. Binged this earlier in the week. I loved the first season, and I'd say this one is pretty much on the same level as the first. Like most, I loved the Punisher story arc, but I also enjoyed most of the Elektra stuff, even though I know lots of people felt that her stuff kind of dragged at times. I was also still surprised at the level of violence, even though the first one had several gory scenes. The fight scenes were all fantastic. The Blu-Ray looked and sounded great. Starting Season Three later on today, and I'm looking forward to it.

I wanted to see this in the theater back in 1990.
Way back when Dice was still cool.

Re: Last BD (or, unrealistically, HD DVD) you watched?
Unfortunately, sat through some pretty brutal movies the past couple of days...But here's my takes on them...
Tag. With this cast, I was REALLY looking forward to this one. I love Ed Helms. I love Hannibal Burress (who had next to nothing to do in the movie). I generally like Jeremy Renner and Jon Hamm. I had heard the concept and thought it would make a great movie. But, man, this was just brutal. I maybe chuckled a couple of times, but that's it. I think I was sitting on the couch just frowning for most of the movie. I think part of the issue is that they took the concept and instead of making it somewhat believable, they just went so over the top that the story really suffered. One of my least favorite movies of the year.
Game Night. Well, I purchased these ones on the same day and since I had heard all sorts of great things about this one (as opposed to the somewhat scathing reviews Tag got), I decided to save this one for last just in case I didn't like the prior movie (which, clearly, I didn't). This one was disappointing, too. It was still better than Tag, but that's a pretty low bar. I usually like Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams, but didn't really think they had much to work with in this one. Like, I couldn't believe that this has a "Fresh Tomatoes" sticker on the cover (in general, I could care less for a Rotten Tomatoes score, but it still annoys me that it's on the cover of this movie). Pretty dreadful movie...Although I will agree with others that Jesse Plemons was the standout in the movie...I laughed once or twice because of him...
Daddy's Home 2. The agony didn't end there. I didn't even like the first one, but found this one in a bargain bin and thought, what the hell. I generally like Mel Gibson (aside from his racist/sexist/bigoted/drunken acts), and wanted to see how he interacted with Wahlberg. Well, he was pretty much the only decent thing in a truly abysmal movie...While I didn't care for the first one too much, it's a masterpiece compared to this. Just brutal. I wished I picked up Blockers instead of this...
1941. Decided to change things up and finally watch this Spielberg Blu-Ray, which I've owned for about a year (it's the version in that Spielberg Universal box-set). Well, first off, I chose the Theatrical Cut, which is about half-hour shorter than the Extended Version. For that, I am truly grateful. I hated this movie. By far, Spielberg's worst (even worse than that last Indiana Jones movie). Just nothing funny in it. John Belushi and Akroyd were completely wasted in this. Treat Williams was somewhat decent, but the movie just wasn't funny at all. Was surprised to see Warren Oates in this trainwreck...
Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone. The first one. Have never watched this. Didn't much care for it. I thought the music/score was good, but the story never really drew me in. And, for some reason, I didn't think the Blu-Ray image looked that good. Almost looked like a DVD. Weak. I'm hoping the series picks up, as I'm looking forward to watching whatever entry Cuaron directed...

Family Video raised their prices considerably so I'm giving Netflix another chance. Started with this one.
Not a huge Amy Schumer fan but this one was OK. A lot better than Snatched.
Very fun entry in the MCU even though the story is kind of like Indiana Jones. Constant chasing and stealing back the prize only to have some really simple ending where none of it mattered. Still thoroughly enjoyable. Great looking 4K presentation.

Michelle Williams was good in I Feel Pretty
Uma Thurman was wasted in this.
Boring though Annasophia Robb still looks young at 24 and this might have been her first movie in years but not a shocker since she is not a great actress.

Great performances by Elsie Fisher and Josh Hamilton.
Fisher should get a Oscar nomination.
It was hard to watch sometimes with all the awkwardness.

It was long but somehow I liked this better than the original and I assume everybody liked the original better.
A guilty pleasure.
Oliver Martinez was awful as the villian.

Found it a bit more enjoyable than I thought I would. Isla Fischer was my favorite. The part in the forest got pretty absurd. It's nice these guys found a way to stay bonded through the decades but I still find the whole premise selfish when they take someone else's event and make it about the game.
This and the first Avengers are just magnificent in 4K. Like watching it for the first time all over again.

King of the Hill Criterion
Steven Soderbergh's third film is a coming-of-age film set during The Depression, as an adolescent boy goes through a series of struggles over an eventful year. It's a beautiful looking film (shot in St. Louis), and a terrific disc, however, the parade of miseries the kid goes becomes wearying at times. It's so sincere that I felt guilty being a bit bored by it. The disc also includes a bonus film: The Underneath, a largely forgotten crime film that Soderbergh, in retrospect, clearly doesn't like. The disc includes a fascinating recent interview in which the director tells you in great detail what he feels is wrong with the film, the mistakes he made, and how those mistakes made him a better filmmaker down the road.

Good work by all the actors but a slow and boring movie
It was a Twilight Time release but the picture quality is kind of mediocre. Maybe the 25th reissue that came out this year is better.

Maybe it would have been better if they got the Weeknd to play Superfly since he looks like Trevor Jackson.
McKinnon's talents were wasted in this movie. Maybe she will get better projects but hope she stays on SNL.
Still don't see the big deal about Kunis since she can't act for shit, her looks are overrated, and has no talent.

The once again fast and loose playing with ages. The lesser known songs. The serious tone with a death. All in all not as enjoyable as the first for me. I know the wife liked it when she saw it so it was a rental. I thought Cher knocked it out of the park with Fernando.
