Summer Hours--Much better on a second viewing as the complexity of the family relationship is better fleshed out. The ending is more satisfying too. This film could also be seen as a commentary on modern life.

Eyeborgs - Terrible, but it was mildly entertaining. I looked at it as a futuristic take on Chopping Mall, or something like that. PQ was much more solid than expected, though the low-budget roots easily shine through. AQ sounded clipped and way too loud.

An American Werewolf in London. A great film - one I truly enjoyed viewing this time around. You can read my review here: http://cinemadailies.com/

GALAXINA (1980): William Sachs and Stephen Macht commentary on because, frankly, I had 90 minutes to kill, didn't feel like watching something 'heavy' and wanted to test for HD-DVD laptop's HDMI compatibility with my HDTV. It worked, I watched, I forgot.
A ROOM WITH A VIEW (1985): my Spanish-speaking mother is reading E.M. Forster's novel for her English classes (she's learning at 62!) so I rewatched it with the commentary track on so we can talk about it on Skype. Mailed the disc to mom the next day so she can watch it on her Toshiba HD-DVD player back in our homeland. Yes, I recycle! :)
SAHARA (2005): rewatched it with director Breck Eisner and McConaughey talking (commentary). I can glean from it that "Sahara" is one of those movies that was more fun for the filmmakers to work on than it was for audiences to watch.

Date Night--Quite a disappointment. Baby Mama was funnier than this mess. Steve Carell and Tina Fey are the only reason we didn't quit watching. Some funny moments but this turned into an action picture not a comedy and it's bad as both. Franco and Kunis are funny as hell in their scene (especially Kunis, who seems to steal scenes in everything I see her in).

Wolf-Man - I really liked 3/4s of the film much more than I thought I would but I didn't like the last quarter of the film at all. Thought the father/son conflict was really corny. And as always, Hugo is a giant vortex of suck in every damn film this guy is in. Just can't stand the guy. Blu-Ray is at the very top tier of PQ, a flawless looking film.

Brooklyn's Finest Not a feel good happy ending kind of movie but gritty and entertaining enough for a rental

Crossing Over Entirely depressing but worth it just for the scenes with Alice Eve (the hot chick from She's Out Of My League) Plenty o' boobage

I absolutely couldn't stand Wolf-man. Not at all. I saw it in the theater and thought to myself "Surely, this can't really be as bad as I'm thinking it is?" For myself, at least, it was an excruciatingly dull experience. The movie just became worse and worse too. The only scene that seemed at all interesting to me was the transformation scene and even that fell short of, say, An American Werewolf in London. As for Hugo: I actually really like him in the Matrix films but he was terrible in this. The fact that he's going to be playing the Red Skull in a Captain America movie by the same film-maker makes me shudder - especially because Captain America has been one of my favorite comics for years (I especially love all the work Ed Brubaker has done).

I love monster movies & the classic Universal world. I enjoyed the look & atmosphere of the first half of the movie & liked that they didn't shy away from the "horror" elements of a wolf-creature although it again fell back to the uncalled for use of CGI that seems unavoidable these days. So I do think there are some positives to the film, which make half the film enjoyable, but I completely understand why one would not like the movie. Personally, I think Hugo is the perhaps the single worst actor in films right now. He is that bad in Matrix too, which I know is impossible to criticize on these boards, but the only reason he can get away with it is the character is a lifeless, peronality free empty entity so it works. Unfortunately this sums up his acting in every single film since the Matrix.

And last night I watched some Star Trek: Original Series, Season 2 late when I got back from seeing Scott (best movie of 2010) Pilgrim.

FWIW, while it doesn't completely redeem the movie, the Director's cut is noticeably better than the theatrical cut.

Re-watched The Dark Knight today while sitting at home sick. Been on a Nolan kick since Inception (watched Insomnia on Blu, and Batman Begins the other week).

Heat Good heist flick. A little trouble with the dialogue vs. the louder scenes. Had to jack the volume to hear the dialogue then the gunshots were a little loud

Agreed. There was clearly something wrong with the audio on this Blu-ray release. That's why I sold it. I'll be waiting for a better edition to come along as a result.

Let the Right One In - 3rd time watching this one, watched it with a bunch of friends that had never seen it last night. Simply a perfect film, kills me that they are remaking this.
