Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
Anaconda? Under Siege? Ugh. This format is quickly becoming the one to dump massive turds on in hopes they will actually sell due to the low amount of other titles available.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
Gizmo, you typed out Under Siege, but the title is The Siege with Denzel. I bought that "Martial Law Edition" on dvd when it came out for $10, so I'm passing.

If the format becomes the next DVD, will they still continue to buy every release that comes out - even if there are 60-100 a week? Probably not.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
^ The Island is a good movie that looks great in 1080p that isn't available on Blu-ray. Why is buying copies in hopes of trading, weird?

this is true, I just read on some forum of a guy who bought multiple copies of The Island on HD-DVD... low supply, high demand, no matter how big of a turd the movie is.

From Asianblurayguide.com...
Bandai Entertainment has finally announced its long promised US DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of Studio BONES anime Sword of the Stranger (Mukoh Hadan)...well, at least they posted the highly official cover art over at the Anime on DVD forum. There's no release date mentioned, but word is that we can all look forward to June for some high resolution samurai action. http://img.affenheimtheater.de/small...nger_us_bd.jpg |

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
I just got a delay notice from Amazon on Rounders - it says May 5th 2010. WTH?
|
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
It must have had some kind of pushed back release. I don't see it listed on Amazon for the Blu-ray edition. Of course, I would expected a date of May 5th, 2009 if pushed back but that's very weird on Amazon's part.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
Okay, let's have another update on Paramount's catalog Blu-ray plans for 2009. Our industry sources are now telling us that Fatal Attraction is coming in June from the studio, with the second and third installments of Friday the 13th following in July. Other titles we've recently confirmed are in the works for Blu-ray release this year from Paramount (street date TBA, but they ARE coming) include South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, the Gladiator: Director's Cut and Forrest Gump. And as we've reported in the daily column recently, the Braveheart: Special Collector's Edition is also expected this year from the studio. Those are great titles all, and on behalf of The Bits staff, let me just say to the Blu crew up on the Melrose lot how impressed we all by the number and overall A/V quality of your catalog titles in 1080p. May we put in a good word for Galaxy Quest (eventually), The Peacemaker and Once Upon a Time in the West? |
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
Forrest Gump is arriving on Blu-ray this year? That is EXCELLENT news indeed. I guess it's time for me to ditch my DVD copy.
|
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
South Park S12 did very well on Blu-ray in its first 2 days :) I smell S11 around October.
|
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
Put me in for South Park, Gladiator, and Forrest Gump. Awesome news. Will probably grab Friday the 13th Part 3 too.
|
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
I'm there for Gladiator, South Park and Braveheart.
|
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
I'll believe Braveheart when I see it.
|
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III
Gladiator: Director's Cut? Is this a new cut, or the original? I ask because the extended cut was not Ridley Scott's preferred version.

May looks to be the most expensive Blu-ray month for me ever. And if June is even back to average, both seasons of Lost bump it way up too. Give me Rounders in July. Third time I've sold a dvd in expectations of a BD only to have it delayed with no news and no disc. Braveheart, Kingpin, and Rounders. I'm have a pretty good feeling about Braveheart and Rounders, but I may buy a used Kingpin because that's a title they could easily just forget about for a long while. |
