They're not matching those.

Thanks for clarifying my post... i meant to add they are matching all of Best Buy, Circuit City, and Wal-Mart's Blu-ray deals.

Iron Man BR is $14.99 at Amazon

I think it's safe to answer the OP's question with just a yes.

Really? I think these "deals" are pretty lackluster for a Black Friday setup. Amazon.com has a whopping 6 titles on sale and Best Buy has titles for 16.99 (WOW!!). And none of the stores can match the super deal on Band of Brothers at DD last week of 41.xx. 54.95 + tax? No thanks.

mcharro3 11-28-08 06:10 AM

Yes, very poor deals on Amazon, I have to say. Shocking, actually, that between the studios and Amazon the best they can do on average is about four bucks off.

I mean, I've been wanting "There Will Be Blood" on Blu since it came out, but held off figuring it would go down in price around now. It hasn't. It's still $25.99!

I agree.

jiggawhat 11-28-08 06:24 AM

I think some of the big deals/sales might be held during christmas time.

Agreed--these deals are kind of meh. Sure, if I didn't own Master & Commander, Kung Fu Panda and Ironman blus yet, I would likely pick them up at the Amazon prices. But all in all, I don't see anything earth-shattering.

Superman07 11-28-08 07:26 AM

Amazon has the Pioneer BDP-51FD for 30% of today. Is that standard or a special deal? Sounds like a good deal, but I don't follow the price fluctuations that closely.

They also have the Kuros on sale too....

NiCK Crush 11-28-08 07:35 AM

Just got back from CC , Picked up:

Saw - 11.99
Saw 4 - 15.99
Flags of our Fathers - 8.99

then at Best Buy I grabbed...

Rambo - 16.99
Transformers - 9.99

WiiDSmoker 11-28-08 07:36 AM

I racked up big time.

Sleeping Beauty (Blu-Ray) - $8.99
The Mummy (Blu-Ray) - $8.99
The Mummy Return (Blu-Ray) - $8.99
Transformers (Blu-Ray) - $8.99
Kung Fu Panda (Blu-Ray) - $8.99
Knocked Up (Blu-Ray) - $8.99
The Incredible Hulk (Norton version) (Blu-Ray) - $8.99
Wall-e (Blu-Ray) - $8.99

Wal-Mart cashiers will pricematch anything you tell them. I showed them the ad for Fry's of 8.99 Blu-Rays and told them all these movies were $8.99.
There isn't even a Fry's in my state too. hahahaha

Owned.

I went back again and got

Nightmare Before Christmas (Blu-Ray) - $9.99
The Scorpion King (Blu-Ray) - $9.99
Flags of our Fathers (Blu-Ray) - $9.99

Mr. Cinema 11-28-08 07:46 AM

The holidays sure do bring out the best in people.

Big Worms 11-28-08 07:47 AM

That was the kind of prices I expected period for deals this year.

DVD Guy ATL 11-28-08 08:06 AM

I thought DVD Empire was supposed to have a "Blu Friday" promotion? Looks like the same old same old to me.

kevin75 11-28-08 08:22 AM

does anyone know if walmart has any other blu rays for $15 besides what was pictured in their ad? it says "many more titles to choose from" by it but according to their online selection, there aren't any other than those 5 or 6 that were shown.

aktick 11-28-08 08:34 AM

Any chances of some decent deals on "Cyber Monday?"

I mostly agree that overall prices are crap. Definitely some good deals, like the under $15 few, but as has been mentioned, some older titles just refuse to come down at all. Screw that.

They have at least 20 others. I found a link earlier on blu-ray.com in their hot deals forum. It's worth it to check it out.

I went to 2 Wal-Mart stores. The first only had the 5 or 6 pictured, but the second had quite a few. Some of the ones I remember...

Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Sunshine
AVP: Requiem
The Mummy
The Mummy 2
3:10 To Yuma
Independence Day
The Fifth Element
whatever the name is of the one with Natalie Portman & Dustin Hoffman

Gizmo 11-28-08 10:10 AM

Only thing I grabbed was the Rambo Trilogy for $18 for my Father in-law. Everything else I either had or was still priced a bit too high. Amazon let me down this year.

On DVD I picked up Supernatural S2 for $18.

BF 2008 Sucks :(

DVD Guy ATL 11-28-08 10:17 AM

DVD Empire has posted their Blu sale. Nothing that grabs me (many of these are cheaper elsewhere), but it's there nonetheless. http://www.dvdempire.com/Content/pm/blufriday.asp

found it! thanks for the heads up!

Sweet Baby James 11-28-08 11:09 AM

Amazon has a killer promotion if you want the Bond flicks. You can get all 6 Bonds for $47.44. If you add 4 other titles from a select list, you'll get an additional $50 off. I got all 6 Bonds, Live Free or Die Hard, Man on Fire and Ice Age 1 & 2 for a total cost of $81.40($8.14 average).:)
