A Nightmare on Elm Street Blu-ray - Canada Exclusive?
Looks like this disc is popping up in Canada today...several people spotted it in-store at Futureshop and available online through Amazon.ca and PlayUSA.

Anyone in Canada snag a copy of this and can comment on PQ/AQ?

That's pretty crap if Canada can get it, and we can't. I've been wondering if this was going to come or not.
However, I'm not devestated. I never even purchased the special edition on DVD. I have the boxed set from New Line from yeeeeeeeears ago, and I'm watching through them now. They still look surprisingly damn good. I couldn't believe it.
I'd upgrade for blu-ray, but I can wait.

Hmm, this is interesting. I might consider importing this title. But I'd be pissed if they released another big boxset here and I already purchased the first one. I hope this won't be one of those titles that has forced subs.

There are some pictures over at Blu-ray.com ... Looks to to have a TrueHD track and NO Special Features :-(
Still, I want it.

Mmmm.. just hearing that this is Canada exclusive (for now) makes me want to go buy it, even though I didn't budget to ... I'm going to see if my local HMV/Future Shop has this during my lunch hour at least.
EDIT: Just went to check it out. The cover art does not match the one shown in the thread on bluray.com (i.e., the art from the most recent Infinifilm DVD release). It matches the red cover art from the older snapper DVD release. In other words, it's fugly. And yes it's bilingual also (surprise, surprise). I think I'll pass.

No extras is a real drag... however it sounds like there isn't any DNR issues with the disc...I'm not sure if the same will be said about the eventual new line release...

ok, hi new here. signed up to comment on this thread.
so my girlfriend just called me & to say she was looking at it while in HMV.
It is part of their 2 for $50 bluray sale or 26.99 regular.
Personally I skipped the Infinifilm DVD in hopes a Blu-ray version would hit but without all those extras it seems kinda lame. If there is nothing else in the 2/$50 I may end up with it this weekend.
also while looking for info on this i see that there are 4 movies in 2 DVD disc sets coming next month for the whole series. you get Nightmare 1-4 & 5-8 (7 & 8 being New Nightmare & FvsJ). So chances of a blu-ray set are going to be extremely low, besides do you really need 2,4,& 5 in hi-def?

I'm ecstatic with the transfer and the lossless Dolby TrueHD is freakin' amazing. One of those tracks where you really have to turn your head to confirm nothing is behind you. No extras, but Alliance made a quality presentation here. Looks better to me than the recent BDs from Anchor Bay (Evil Dead 2, etc.).
Just FYI, the blu-ray seems to be cheapest through Amazon.ca at $20.95. If you want to save money on the ridiculous shipping you could also order SIN CITY and FROM DUSK TILL DAWN on blu-ray at the same time. They are coming from Alliance on October 21. I'm really excited about those, too.
If the PQ/AQ on "Elm St." is any indication, these will be some must-own titles, and just in time for Halloween.
pre-order Sin City blu-ray right here:

Order A Nightmare On Elm St. blu-ray:

It's because of a licence agreement that is about to expire between Alliance Canada who handle New Line and Miramax owned properties here. They saw a window to release these titles before they lose domestic rights to WB, from what I've read and understood.

No. At least I didn't notice any difference (don't own the infinifilm). Same audio as on the first DVD, only way better. However, the film is still an edited version and we don't get the second blood splash in the Tina/bed scene. That has pissed me off on every dvd version, too.
