The advertisement on the insert said Bambi and The Lion King in 2011.

Is anyone having problems with the Beauty & The Beast blu-ray? On my Samsung player, the menus don't show up - I can move through different selections, but there's no actual text, the icon just moves around to different blank spots on the screen.

I was able to get the movie to play by guessing correctly that the first item on the menu was probably the option to play the movie, but I've got no way to figure out how to get to the various special features.

I'm watching the Behind the Scenes special on Disc 2 and am having audio cut out randomly. I don't know if it's the disc or something else. I have a feeling it's the disc since it cuts out at the same spots every time.

I might have answered my own question. Found a thread on this at the PS3 forums (http://boardsus.playstation.com/t5/P...m/m-p/46247417)

Looks like it's a PS3 issue. Ugh.

On another forum I frequent, there has been much talk about the known issues with Samsung Blu-ray player firmware that causes discs from Warner Brothers, Universal and/or Disney to not function correctly. You may want to get the very latest firmware for your model Samsung player and see if that helps.

On my Sony BDP-S370 player with the M03.R.394 firmware (dated 9/9/2010), the Beauty and the Beast disc does work correctly, though the initial loading is just a tad slow.

Popped it in to check it out and.... Holy Crap!! As others have said, the transfer is truly stunning: the colors, the detail. I don't think it looked this good at the theater.

I'm currently watching the documentary on disc 2 and it's currently frozen on screen (PS3) and the audio has dropped out twice.

I am looking forward to Lion King, definitely. I couldn't care less about Bambi, I mean I'll pick it up, but I'm not looking forward to it or anything.

Same thing happened here on my BD player. Sometimes it just didn't even load and I'd have to turn off and back on again

Really, Piranha 3D didn't sell out on 2D?

It froze on my PS3 Slim and then eventually continued. I don't recall if the audio dropped out. Thank god the film itself played fine.

Any particular reason you respond to a portion of a comment made over a month ago, about a discussion that has been since been moved on from in regards to 3D?

or is it just :notrolls:

Please dont go around trying to stir up something from a discussion no longer being talked about on here by responding to something you decided to extract from one example made at the end of long post that was part of a discussion made over a month ago.

No problem on either of my two samsung players both discs play great on them.

I havent had any firmware issues with play back on any bluray discs in fact in almost 2 years, since i upgraded from the 1400.

Um, did anyone else have the experience where a suggested viewing bonus feature popped up on screen right when the credits started? That's some BS right there. Any idea if there's a way to turn that off?

I found this answer on another forum...

"Its because you didnt turn the fast play feature off at the start of disc loading up. I mentioned the same thing to another person on another forum as well.
If you click on the menu option at load up you will not get the pop up durring the end credits. "

EDIT: Nevermind, found the separate thread about this issue...

Agreed just saw it yesterday and it looks amazingly clear. But the thing that kinda bug me a little was that there were certain points in the movie where the beast is in the shadow and you couldn't really make up his features so when he finally appears on the light it has a little more resonance because you get to see the "monster" in full form. But now the image is so clear that you can tell what he looks like from the get go. Its in moments like this when I miss the murkiness of old fashion cinema but hey maybe my VHS copy was worn out and he was never fully in the dark :P

Interesting point. I wonder if Disney tinkered with this release to enhance the visuals?

One thing I noticed, and I could be wrong here, is that Belle's eyes, at least going by my memory, used to be more of a deep, rich brown. Watching this last night, they looked hazel or almost green.

I couldnt find it mentioned, though I might have missed it as I've been out of the BR loop for some time, but did we ever find out what happened with the Dumbo release?
