Man of man does Wall-E look amazing on Blu-ray! This is a fantastic set! Even if you dont want the 3 disc version pick it up because the BD case is excellent for those that need to use it as a replacement for some previous broken Warner cases (Speed Racer/Get Smart) since its thicker than a normal BD one.

Any comparison pics by chance of the case?

Sure...give me a few minutes

Thanks alot

Gizmo 11-10-08 04:59 PM

No problem. I have not seen the film before (and skipped to a few parts on the BD to check it out). Looking forward to watching this. Hopefully its better than Kung Fu Panda.

NiCK Crush 11-10-08 05:46 PM

I find it to be far and away more enjoyable than Kung Fu Panda... Youre in for a treat.

Zen Peckinpah 11-10-08 05:52 PM

What's the sound on it? Did Disney give a 7.1 track? I heard they were with Narnia, thought this could maybe get one too.

Gizmo 11-10-08 06:50 PM

5.1 dts ma

I thought Kung Fu Panda was far more funny, although Wall-E was more sweet and touching. Both are great to me.

I went ahead and ordered the 3-disc Blu-ray from Amazon.

awwwwesome! way to go Disney/Pixar - DTS lossless!

Supermallet 11-10-08 08:34 PM

Disney's always used lossless. Why is it so exciting that they're now using DTS MA?

Because its DTS

TrueHD/DTS MA/PCM all sound the same to me...

shaun3000 11-10-08 09:05 PM

Haven't the previous Pixar BDs all been PCM?

They should sound pretty much the same, seeing as how they're lossless.

That's my point :) Never understood why there are fanboys for audio codecs when they all sound the same.

Very true. Panda had the laughs, this has the heart, I suppose.

Supermallet 11-11-08 12:36 AM

Kung Fu Panda was amusing, but I would never own it. Wall-E, on the other hand, is yet another Pixar classic that I can't wait to get my hands on. The two aren't even in the same league, imo. In fact, I'd say Dreamworks has never made a single animated film that could touch the worst Pixar movie, let alone some of the best.

Vipper II 11-11-08 06:56 AM

Has Disney finally added the ability to bookmark scenes for the movie's resumption? It seems Disney and Fox are the only two studios to exclude that feature.

Were it not for the existence of Cars, I would agree with you wholeheartedly.

Giles 11-11-08 02:45 PM

DVDBeaver's review is up!

Wall-E

However, if you haven't seen the film don't read the review, they post a spoiler in pic form.

Yea, I dont think any of the Dreamworks Animated films hold a candle to any of the Pixar films.

shaun3000 11-11-08 04:14 PM

Wow, this includes The Pixar Story as a "special feature"?? And in HD to boot?! That's worth half the purchase price, right there!!

Not CG, but I'd stand Prince of Egypt up with the Pixar elite.

and Chicken Run, or Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the WereRabbit and I know I'm in the minority, but I loved Hoodwinked - only Entertainment Weekly (and I) gave it rave reviews.

Brent L 11-11-08 05:44 PM

I'm a huge fan of The Road to El Dorado, although almost no one agrees with me there.

Anyway, Wall-E looks awesome (the PQ, I saw the flick and know it's great). I can't wait for DVD Planet to get it to me!

Yeah, I saw that mentioned in the review and thought it was really cool.

I'll agree with you

even upconverted 'The Road to El Dorado's colours leap out and are simply stunning - it's a fun story, with great 2D cel animation.

heck, I even liked Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron

It's hard for me to consider Chicken Run or Wallace and Gromit as "Dreamworks" films because they're clearly Nick Park films. But I will admit I wasn't thinking of those when I made my comment, and they do stand up to Pixar.

Clarification - Its actually a 6.1 DTS MA. The case says 5.1 but others have told me its actually 6.1.

Mr. Cinema 11-12-08 01:24 PM

Any pics of the inside of the 3-disc case? I'm wondering if it has that same crappy, flimsy tray that WB used on Get Smart and Speed Racer.

rexinnih 11-12-08 02:46 PM

Did not know the Pixar Story was on this. Even more incentive to pick this one up!

There are pictures over at HDD...but no, its not. Is it much nicer and thicker then the crappy Warner ones used on those two releases.

ASAPadam 11-13-08 07:56 AM

Is it weird that High-Def Digest's review doesn't mention "The Pixar Story" being included?

HDD's reviews aren't usually a model of accuracy, unless Zyber is the reviewer.

Gizmo 11-13-08 10:02 AM

Justin over at HDDNews can't find the feature either

This does not contain “The Pixar Story” like the DVD 3-Disc release does. I’ve looked endlessly all over Disc 1 and Disc 2 of this and it’s nowhere to be found despite the back of the box claiming it is included. Thank goodness for this containing BD-Live so they can add it maybe later this year. This is a MUST-SEE featurette and should have been included here. It runs well over an hour in length.
As for the HDD Review...that reviewer is known to gloss over features or review things not even on the disc.

Giles 11-13-08 10:11 AM

that's very odd, since the dvdbeaver review says it's on Disc 2, I hope it isn't a 3-disc edition exclusive. It's too bad the 'Presto' short isn't in HiDef.

Ralph Potts at AVS lists it as being HD . . .
