Would anyone of us have found out about Speed Racer if Bill didn't bring it up? Where was Bluray.com, HDD, and other sites and how come they weren't able to find out anything about this colossal blunder?

Is this still going to look loads better than a standard def DVD? Yes? OK, then count me in. I as well would prefer a lossless audio track, but as someone who won't be reviewing this title, I can say that I personally won't care. It's still going to be some glorious eye candy for my home theater.

Mod Note: I don't have time to clean up this thread tonight, but clearly I was being too subtle when I called the off-topic bickering stupid. I don't want to see any more snarky comments from anyone in this thread. If it's not directly about Speed Racer, don't post it. At this point, unless it's a fact about the disc or an opinion about the movie, I'm going to consider it off topic.

I think Warner sucks for giving this the shaft, but the sad truth I liked this movie too much to pass it up, even if it's on a BD-25 with lossy audio...so I'll be picking it up anyhow.

Well is it indicative it's terrible because of a BD-25? I understand the lossy audio, but HD-DVD's were more than capable of delivering an outstanding picture, why can't blu-ray do it as well?

What I really think it is, is Warner doesn't think they need to go out of their way, especially on family films to put a lossless track because kids won't notice the difference. Although they've been pretty inconsistent lately, especially on animated features like Gotham Knight and Justice League Season 1, Sarah Connor Chronicles, etc- all have just a 640k lossless track. Not sure why...
As for the "Audio Standards May Vary" not looking final, if you look closer it's in the extras box, so it looks pretty final to me.

Whether that means the disc will have TrueHD or not, I'm not prepared to jump to conclusions until we get final word from Warner. Maybe it really will be limited to DD 5.1, but I haven't seen anything conclusive. And that includes this cover image.
