The whole film is soft, but some scenes are so soft that they actually look fuzzy. The sound is pretty much as I remember it from the theater. I'm super excited to dig into the special features, but the PQ is some of the worst I've seen in a Blu-ray in a long time.
Aaah, I hope I get mine tomorrow. Did you pay for expedited or just do standard shipping?

Sucks about the PQ. It didn't look great in the theater but it sounds pretty bad from how you described it.

Has anyone watched the visual commentary? An interesting cameo happens about 53 minutes in. Came as a bit of a surprise.

Yeah, that sounds pretty bad. If so, I may just pick up the DVD and save $10, as I thought the movie was just OK anyway.

Does the Bluray have any exclusive extras not on the 3-disc SD release?

# Cast & Crew Video Commentary (BD Exclusive)
# BD-Live (BD Exclusive) (which has the missing 3 Disc DVD extras available)
# MyScenes (BD Exclusive)
# U-Control (BD Exclusive)
# Karaoke (BD Exclusive)

And sorry to ask for information that is probably elsewhere in the thread, but what is the Blu-Ray missing that the 3-Disc has?

Hopefully we'll have the option to download them as HD too.

So just one real exclusive, really, with the lame excuse of the BD-lived covering for the missing features. Lame.

I'm going for the SD on this one - if studios are wondering why BD sales have plateaued, it's because of shit like this.

It goes live on September 30th.

I hope its HD...but so far I don't think even Sony has offered any of their "BD-Live" extra features in HD (Vantage Point, Starship Troopers). Considering the average BD-Live player probably only has 1-2GB of space (besides the PS3), I would guess and say they will be in SD. But nothing I have indicated either way.

I doubt it. If they put so little effort into the BD, I don't see why they'd put more effort into the DVD.

And for those curious, the surprise cameo in the visual commentary is:
Spoiler:
Macauley Culkin

Well I figured since they spaced all the extras across 3 discs, the PQ would be improved for the movie itself

The Blu-ray is only 1 BD50 disc (the 2nd is simply the digital copy).

Watched this last night and thought it looked pretty good. Comedies aren't known for their vivid picture quality. Of the more recent comedies, Superbad has looked the best to me. I saw FSM in theaters and remember it looking a little drab. It's not going to look any better on any other format.

I know, I was referring to the dvd being spread out over 3 discs (or 2, with a digital copy on the 3rd).

It's not the filming style I have a problem with (even in the theater those Hawaii shots weren't particularly mind blowing), but the obvious compression artifacts.
