Good week for HBO to release John Adams on BRD

I caught a couple episodes of John Adams on HBO and I was impressed. Timing is everything and HBO could have capitalized a little bit on Independence Day by releasing John Adams on Blu-Ray this week. Damn it.

I would like to see the series on BD, but I just watched the whole thing in HD and probably wouldn't watch again for a while.

What's more confusing is why they didn't choose to air it initially in July.

Wasn't HBO getting out of HDM for a while due to the poor sales of the high-priced Sopranos half-season sets? John Adams may have been a casualty of this decision.

They (or is it Warner?) are coming back with Band of Brothers, but that's later in the year.

if the reported (rumored?) price on Band of Brothers is true, then they didn't learn their lesson.

Summer months are slow for TV due to people traveling, outdoor activities, etc. That's why networks tend to show reruns in Summer. Showing John Adams in July for the first time would have led to many fewer viewers than when it was originally aired.

I'd love this in BD. Wife wants In Treatment in BD too. HBO's being pretty picky about their BDs these days.

Then why are they premiering the seven part Generation Kill in July?

I understand your point, but HBO has never really shied away from the summer - Six Feet Under ran for years during the summer; Entourage and Big Love have as well.

I think HBO was running a John Adams marathon today.
