I bought Kingdom of Heaven on blu ray and although I know that my receiver (Onkyo HT-R340) does not decode DTS HD, I was under what I considered a reliable impression that the HD soundtracks were simply downgraded to the normal DTS and Dolby versions? I'm guessing this is not the case since my reciever is only outputting the signal in stereo. For those wondering, under the audio options DTS HD is the only available soundtrack. And as and afterthought, piss on you Ridley Scott. How many people actually own the HD audio receivers yet? Who the hell doesn't include a Dolby Digital soundrack? Especially since when you produced this disc that the technology didn't exist on any receivers yet. Dumbass.

Not familiar with you're receiver...are you connected to it via HDMI or or cables? What Blu-ray player do you have?

Could be your settings. If the PS3 is set to bitstream over the optical connection is should output the DTS core for decoding by the receiver. It shouldn't just output stereo.

Under optical on your PS3, make sure that all the formats your receiver can decode have checkmarks. If that doesn't work, uncheck everything except DTS and try again.

DTS-HD MA can definitely be passed as 1.5Mbs DTS Core. Can you double-check to make sure the "Optical" audio output is set to Bitstream... and not the HDMI audio out?

The latest PS3 firmware upgraded the system so it can now support full DTS-HD MA decoding. If it's set to LPCM... the PS3 would be decoding to full quality LPCM and passing the Left & Right over the optical connection.

Also, please don't blame Ridley Scott for this, because it was not his call. Pretty much all Fox titles have DTS-HD MA, with no Dolby Digital track.
