I wonder why those chose Die Another Day over what is undoubtedly Brosnan's best, GoldenEye. Tsk tsk.

I'll grab From Russia with Love, Thunderball, Live and Let Die, and For Your Eyes Only.

Am I the only one who ranks Licence to Kill among his/her favorite Bond movies? It's a harder-edged entry tailor-made for the time of Die Hard and Lethal Weapon.

A 22 BD boxset using Fox's pricing? I'm terrified to even think about it.

The first Bond movies I saw were the Roger Moore ones, so The Spy Who Loved Me is near the top of my Bond list. Unfortunately, that isn't part of the first group.

Or For Your Eyes Only which is weak on story and 90% stunts.

For my money the best of the lot are (in no order):

GoldenEye
Thunderball
Dr. No
From Russia with Love
Goldfinger
Spy Who Loved Me
Moonraker

It looks to me like FOX is working the same angle as the previous Bond releases by throwing out at least one of each actor playing Bond (save Lazenby and Dalton).

Maybe Fox won't leave off any of the special features that are on the DVDs. If they do I probably won't bother upgrading any of them to Blu-ray.

And I know it is nitpicking, but I hope they use diffferent artwork that they used on the latest DVDs. That black background and gold letters are so boring.

It's in my Top 5. I'd only rank From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Casino Royale higher.

I prefer the more realistic, harder-edged Bond flicks, and Licence To Kill is one of the best in that regard. I'm thankful they're taking that approach with the Craig Bond movies.

By the time they get all the titles out the prices will probably be much better. This is exactly what happened with the dvd releases.

Dr. No, From Russia With Love, and Thunderball are must buys for me. I might be convinced to pick up Live and Let Die and Die Another Day, but I will never again watch or own For Your Eyes Only. I cannot fathom why this is such a beloved Bond entry. It's got Roger Moore dressing up like somebody's grandpa and hitting on teenagers. It's flat out boring.

Now bring on For Her Majesty's Secret Service, Goldeneye, and The Spy Who Loved Me, and we'll be in business.

Is this going to be a boxset? If so, expect to see a flurry of Die another Day discs at used video stores and on ebay ala Spider-man 3. I love Bond, but Die another Day is absolutely intolerable.

PS, Goldfinger is the greatest Bond movie ever. I will argue this to my dying day. If only Honor Blackman were hot, there would be no way to contest this.

Goldfinger is the point where Bond started becoming cheesy. The story isn't especially great and the pacing feels kind of lopsided. It's not the worst Bond film, but it's very much not the best.

It's the THIRD film! Are you saying that there were only 2 good Bond films????

No, I'm not saying there were only two good Bond films, but a lot of the elements that would bog down the series later are first introduced in Goldfinger, and I don't think the film holds up very well. I think it gets a lot more praise than it deserves because it was the film that really made Bond a household name, which I give it credit for. It's important, historically, but as far as the filmmaking goes, it's not up there with the best entries in the series.

I'm in... though I'm expecting a DNR fest that won't look very film-like at all projected on a big screen (ala the digitally-scrubbed Ultimate Editions).

Sad as it is to say, Die Another Day grossed a lot more money than Goldeneye did.

The press release says "featuring special features galore".

It's really too bad Sony didn't release these instead of Fox -- Sony has nabbed a couple of Criterion tracks recently, it would be amazing if the Blu-Rays included these commentaries.

The laserdiscs with those commentary tracks were quickly withdrawn due to threatened legal action from EON Productions, so it would be highly unlikely to see those tracks reappear on a future release anyway.

I believe they were quickly re-released with new commentaries by the same participants which were more diplomatic. I can't say I wouldn't want the original versions, but a Criterion track is a Criterion track.

I have bought Bond one time too many. I may grab a title or two, but I will probably wait for the eventual set will all of them or just stick with my DVD sets. At Fox's prices the thought of buying them all on BD is making my wallet hurt.
