Finally got mine today from Warner. Hope to watch it tonight. Any good reviews on this out there?
Meanwhile, I wonder what the deal is with that other cover since it looks like the old one is what's out there.

Anyone else unable to get the cd sampler to play in a cd-rom drive? I hear clicking noises inside the drive like its trying to play it but cannot for some reason. I played it on a regular cd player and it plays fine. Maybe its some kind of copy protection to prevent us from ripping the tracks?

But I have no desire to listen to the CD anyway. At least Warner is not jacking up the MSRP on this release like they did with Beetlejuice thanks to a lame sampler.

Can someone post a scan of the "other" cover?
I got mine yesterday from WHV.com with this cover:

Also got mine yesterday. It was shipped the day before with one-day shipping. Maybe they rushed it because it went out late.
When the movie starts and the Warner logo comes on - my God! so blurry. Skimming through the film, its not as bad as the logo threatens, but it doesn't look amazing either. Makes the film look a lot older than it is, but I can't pretend to remember what it looked like in theaters.

That's a real shame. with all the bright colors and neon signs, I was hoping to be blown away with the picture quality.

But who knows. I pre-ordered L.A. Confidential from the last Columbia House B1G1 Blu-ray sale and I just got shipping confirmation yesterday.

Sorry, I meant the Kim Basinger with photos of the rest of the cast cover. I refer to that as the new one because it's a more recent design than the other cover.
Edit: Watched some of this and the image quality wasn't nearly as bad as some of the people here are making it out to be. Certainly not as bad as Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Watch this and then the "Gattaca" BD, a movie older than "L.A. Confidential", and you tell me....... There is just no excuse for WB to deliver such a piss poor picture quality of this great film.

People keep saying that maybe the softness is intentional. I'm sorry, but I just don't buy that. They are saying the same thing about "Vampire". I'm watching then new "Nixon" BD from Netflix now and even it's PQ is 100 times better than "Confidential". Also, at the time of it's theatrical release, "Confidential" was also noted for being a beautiful looking film. Getting best art direction and cinematography Oscar nominations.

Whoops! Changed.

For some reason I keep thinking "Confidential" came out in '98. O.K., so they are the same age. Again, look at both BD releases side by side. I just wish the people in charge of "Gattaca"'s coversion would have done "Confidential".

Last on this subject, I promise. I just bought, and watching, "Goodfellas" on BD for the very first time. And even it's PQ is better than "Confidential". And then I realized, in addition to "Confidential" not having a sharp picture, the colors are very washed out in many scenes. In comparison, I was very impressed with "Goodfellas". AND this is also a WB release. So sad.
