So I got a chance to watch Vol 1 on Blu today, it looks fantastic - the color especially.

I never forgot it, but it always amazes me that it's the movie that brought Battle Without Honor or Humanity (Tomoyasu Hotei) and the ren and stimpy sounding song by the 5,6, 7 & 8 upon us, for commercial makers everywhere.

I own the Japanese Box set's of Vol 1 and Vol 2 and I'd never even consider getting these releases without Vol 1 being the Japanese cut...

I'll just be patient and wait a little longer for the TWBA release.

The Japanese cut is interesting, mostly for the use of alternate shots from time to time (different angles and what have you.)

Personally, I still prefer the shorter Crazy 88s fight in the US Vol 1. The change of color always makes me laugh and it feels to be just long enough. The Japanese cut is only a little longer but it's long enough to the point that it sucks the energy right out of the scene.

That said, I'll probably be holding off for TWBA as well. The Vol 1 I watched at a buddy's house was fantastic but I think I've seen the movie a few too many times at this point.

WTF, we finally get a decent release price in Canada, $22.95 on amazon.ca but release date doesn't show until October. Same with best buy and Futureshop.

Anyone got it from Amazon? I just wonder if Amazon edition has the 10% coupon.

Can't agree with you about the Crazy 88's sequence... What I really love in the Japanese cut is when The Bride cuts off Sophie's other arm when she's in the trunk. You can never have enough dismemberment in this type of film.

Just got my two pack from Amazon and there is no coupon in either, just a blu-ray insert and Monster ad. The two movies were shrink wrapped together, with a special UPC on the wrap.

I just got back from Best Buy. They price-matched the $24.99 price for each on their own Web site, and even honored the online-only deal for $10 off if you buy both together at that price. Each has the $10 coupon, so the final price will be $10 for each Blu-ray. I'd call that a pretty reasonable deal.

Well looks like I'll be returning my purchase to amazon. I'd rather get them from Best Buy today, plus get $10 back for each of them. I'm down.

I do recommend doing what kahuna did, ordering it online for in-store pick-up. It might save some arguing at the customer service counter, although the process was painless at the store near me.

I did in-store pickup earlier today. Very glad the website was selling them already for $5 lower than the high $29.99 price in-store.

I've had that happen to me a lot at Best Buy lately. I always check the Web site price first if I'm going to the store for something specific, and even print the page if need be. But I'm lucky: The employees at my local Best Buy have never balked at price matching.

Sweet, just ordered from Best Buy.com. Thanks for the heads-up. $10 each after rebate isn't bad at all. I've had good luck with the $10 rebates on The Rookie and Narnia.

I'm way too anal to cut the UPC's off my covers to get the $10 rebate, but $20 a piece is still a decent enough price for me as much as I love these movies.

For the Kill Bill rebate it states "one rebate per household" does that mean we can only submit one and not both?

Fry's is a little cheaper than BB: 23.95 each, but 2 get 10 bucks off. Bought it yesterday, because I wasn't sure if they were going to extend it until today.

This may sound dumb, but anyone else thinking of just ordering a copy of the DVDs from DDD or someplace similar for less than 10 bucks, and basically getting an SD version for free?

I absolutely agree. Whoever decided to clip that to B&W did the flick a huge favor as it just totally fits with the style overall.
