That's cool, where's that pic from? I notice the Alliance Atlantis logo on the spine, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't released here in Canada. ;)

Count me in as one of the suckers who will buy them on day 1. I have probably watched my SD DVD copies at least 20+ times each, so I am sure I will get more than my monies worth.
|
I don't think I've watched the U.S. version of KB1 or 2 since I got my Japanese sets, but I will pick these up immediately as I'm not holding my breath on getting those versions or The Whole Bloody Affair any time soon. I preferred KB2 a little bit more to 1, so I'll be very happy with the BD as the changes in that one from the Japanese version were almost indistinguishable, unlike the KB1 changes.
|
I'm guessing the Weinsteins, who have no interest in releasing the uncut versions, will do everything in their power to prevent someone to import the real version. |
IMO, the US Cut is better than the Japanese cut. The main issue being the Crazy 88 battle goes on for far too long in the Japanese edition. IMHO, it drags a bit. I'm not really a stickler about the color one way or another, I do like that alternate shots were used in random spots in the Japanese cut, though.
That said, in this day and age there is no reason for a release without both cuts. |
The switch to black & white was written into the movie's script before production started.
|
My only minor complaint with the Japanese KB1 version was not having forced Eng subs during the Japanese language sections. Not a big deal, but I eventually just left them on for the whole movie, trying to turn them on and off as required resulted in a lot of rewinding, not condusive to enjoying a film. I'll probably grab both on BD though, and also on Japanese BD if region free and/or actually get released. Hopefully Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction are going to be released shortly also.

Are you sure about that? I could've sworn that I've seen interviews with Tarantino stating the opposite. |

They are much more aggressive in this regard than most other studios.

They're not exclusive to Amazon - only the bundling of the two together is their "exclusive."
Its just looking like the two films together - no special slipcase or anything like that. |
No slipcase? Oh well, that's a good price. Let's hope it doesn't turn out to look like Gangs of New York.

Any reviews yet for this?
