Look out! Here comes the crappy packaging.

I'd seriously like to know what idiot at Warner thought that cardboard shit in the Dirty Harry Ultimate Collector's Edition is somehow better than regular BD cases in a box set.

Probably the same genius that came up with the Harry Potter gift set.

I just opened it & am pretty disgusted... hope they end up releasing individual titles so I can dump this. Warner's mediocrity continues.

You can't please everyone with this. I like standard packaging, but then other people complain that it's boring and not unique. I don't like thinpaks for movies, but others would love it if everything came in them.

It's just like the Bonnie & Clyde book package.

Yep this is horrible package, it is an inch too tall to line up with other blu-rays on the shelf, it's also way too wide.. I've already taken the discs and put them in a tri and double blu-ray case, tossed that POS box, hopefully soon someone will post some custom art.

I'll give them credit though, from what I've seen, Dirty Harry looks & sounds pretty damn good! But the ultimate collection packaging is a total mess.

For those who want pics, Amazon has some: link

Looks like a typical fold-out box set to me. Is the OP referring to the individual Dirty Harry release or is there something I'm missing?

Here are some pics of the contents, just try to ignore my crappy photography skills and fingerprints.

Forgot the book.

Size of the set in relation to other BD's on the shelf.

Looks pretty cool to me. I can't see why anyone would complain about it. Makes me want the set even more, seeing these pics.

Looks pretty sweet. Don't worry, I'm sure Viper will also complain that the films contained inside are also too grainy.

That's a shelf killer.

If you are like me, you have a large collection where uniformity abets maximum storage. An odd size or two can ruin your entire space managemnt plan.

Currently, my only odd sized BDs are CE3K and Planet Earth.

I'd have no problem with it if they would've put the discs in something like this (which they've already used before):

and then just store that on my shelf & stash/ditch the box. Oh well, the 1st Dirty Harry did kick much ass yesterday!

With the Blade Runner set EVERY copy I ran across had floaters. I bought one and disc 5 (workprint) had a couple scratches, but nothing too bad so I kept it.

But I wouldn't want to get another set with that packaging.

I like that Dirty Harry set packaging - EXCEPT the size difference. I don't see the reason for them to make it so damned much bigger (taller) than the regular Blu Ray packaging. It's kind of like the first SE release for The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly - why make it oversized?

I'd imagine Warner (logically) didn't expect sales of the Blu set to be high enough to warrant the costs involved with an entirely seperate package design from the DVD version.

Or... it's an evil plot by Warner to make everyone that goes into our houses, see our HDM collection, focus on the Dirty Harry set (because it stands out so much) and then say "Holy Sh*t! I gotta have it" and then run out to buy one

I had to go through about 5 Blade Runner sets to get a scratch free set. The trays WB used in that packaging are flimsy. The middle button isn't very good. The packaging Fox used for the Die Hard set is much better. The discs won't slide off of those.

Hey guys, I was pretty disappointed with the packaging, too. I went ahead and made a custom case to fit over the Blade Runner 5 Disc case.

Let me know what you guys think:

Those fold-out cases always gave me floaters on DVD how are they not on the Blu-ray discs? Way to many times I had to exchange a Fox TV Show set because the disc would be floating around in a crushed hub scratched to hell.
