What other player would they use? Its the fastest, Profile 2.0 and decodes all HD audio codecs. Kinda a no brainer.
|
Looks like we can expect Bottle Rocket and Chungking Express in November.

Sweet! No mention of the Blu-ray anywhere though...wonder if they will use DTS MA, TrueHD or PCM? |
They better still be releasing Chungking Express on Blu-ray. That would make it a must own IMHO.

Notice how there's an oddly-placed rectangle of grass on the middle of the standard DVD artwork for Bottle Rocket. Looks like they might have crafted the art for the BD, then extended it a bit for the DVD version.
Oh, and I can't freakin' wait for Chungking Express in high-definition.:up: |

Whoa...hang on there. Just because they have the specs up for those other titles doesn't mean they're coming in November. The Coming Soon page lists only Chungking Express and Bottle Rocket for November.

I doubt the DD5.1 track is for the BD release. At the very least I expect a PCM or TrueHD track from them. Still, I'll bite the bullet and buy the BD regardless if its a standard DD5.1 track. Love the movie.
|
So far only the previously-released-by-Criterion titles mention lossless (or uncompressed) sound.
I hope that the specs on the newer titles need an update. |

Actually, they also have pre-order listings for all 5 of them. Clearly, they're kicking off their Blu-ray slate with 5 titles, and will release 1-2 per month from now on.
Looking forward to it! 11/18 The Third Man The Man Who Fell to Earth 11/25 The Last Emperor Bottle Rocket Chungking Express Wow! It's going to be an expensive month (and holiday season in general). |
Please give us Rushmore...please Criterion.
|
Well, I'll be getting The Third Man and Chungking Express.
Is there any word on whether The Last Emperor will be in its correct aspect ratio? |
We got 3 months until these come out...hopefully specs will arrive in the next month or so. So far its just Bottle Rocket for me.
|
Perfect! The two I want are coming out first. Muahaha!

I'm sooo excited for Chungking Express and Bottle Rocket!!! Best Blu-Ray announcement ever! -- Looks like they're doing away with spine numbers. Very good. |
Great news to start my weekend!
I'll have to add Chungking Express and Bottle Rocket to my BD collection. I'll pass on the others and keep my SDs for now (and I'm sure I'll break down and purchase those soon enough ;)) |
While the special features are mostly carried over for the Blu-ray versions, it's worth noting that the Last Emperor specifically drops any mention of the extended television cut for the BR release.
|
Gotta watch Bottle Rocket and Third Man again, will definitely be picking up Chungking.
|
'The Last Emperor' (1987) features a high definition digital transfer approved by cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, and a stereo track in DTS-HD Master Audio
oh my god, you have to be shitting me - wow! SOLD! and 39.95 SRP  |
