While I'd like to believe that, it is going to be hell. Have to go back to the masters, redo all the special effects, etc. It would be cool if they could do it WS and basically give us a whole new set I think there would have to be a lot more potential sales for them to want to put much money out.

I find myself very irritated that Star Trek Season 2 is out on just DVD when we did get an HDDVD version of it. That blows.

The Prisoner

Anybody hear anything about "The Prisoner" coming on Blu-Ray? Apparently NetworkDVD had claimed on their site back in late 2007 that it would happen in 2008, but I haven't seen any updates since then and can't find anything on their site about it anymore.

It’s been a busy year again for us at Network – a year which saw us bringing a restored, endorsed, definitive version of The Prisoner to DVD (amongst many others!), celebrating our 10th birthday and launching our new website. Next year sees another slate of top quality archive TV programming coming to DVD including Emergency Ward 10, Armchair Thriller and more recent hits Spitting Image and Mrs. Merton as well as our first major theatrical release in March; the Hou Hsiao-Hsien homage to French classic Le Ballon Rouge – The Flight of the Red Balloon, starring the beautiful and talented Juliette Binoche. 2008 will also see the release of The Prisoner on Blu-Ray!
Does anybody have any more info?

I've seen a couple of shows on Blu-ray. Lost, IMHO, is vastly improved being viewed in high definition. There are certain shows that definitely deserve the upgrade.

Has there been a "Complete Series" released in Blu-ray yet?

Probably sooner rather then later. The longer they take...the less people care to see the 5 unaired episodes (IMO).

True, but I guess I was thinking of something with multiple season that was popular (5+?). I suppose something like that isn't really likely to happen to until the current generation of shows that started their run in the HD era are completed.

No, its not possible yet. Maybe Prison Break (if Fox ever releases S2 and brings out S4). PD is another possible "complete" series along with Terminator (if canned).

Of what? PD has a total of 13 episode this year. They aired up to episode 8 IIRC maybe 9. I stopped watching when it got canned.

the 9 episodes beyond the 13 then on imdb, must gave been planned / scripted episodes that never got to be filmed because of the "intelligent" hollywood execs (note this is sarcasm - hollywood execs have very little intelligence)

If Pushing Daisies season 2 doesn't come out on Blu-ray I'm going to be fucking pissed off... I'm still pissed about Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me being abandoned on blu-ray after tricking me into buying those seasons...

The show was given a 13 episode order and the back 9 was never picked up. 'Tis all.

Re: TV Shows on Blu-Ray

A little of a sidetrack, but I noticed today over at TSoDVD that the October Road S2 set will contain a specially filmed segment that is ~15 minutes and wraps up the series. If I knew something like this was standard practice by the studios I would likely watch more shows - knowing that no matter what, I would receive some semblence of closure. Alas, I doubt our fond pie maker will receive such kind rewards.

Yeah, it was filmed only a few days ago. Lionsgate has the rights to releasing S2 on DVD so maybe they financed it or the Show runners did.

Agreed. I may not even purchase it if it's DVD only. I can't imagine the show in SD. It's such a beautiful show, the HD is almost another character.

Re: TV Shows on Blu-Ray

One of the finest DVDs I've purchased this year - and IMO the best television show I've seen since The Sopranos - is Lionsgate's "MAD MEN: SEASON ONE" BD. I think I purchased that for about $21 in the DDD sale, and not only is the show great with a phenomenal HD transfer, but the extras are among the best I've ever seen. Gazillions of commentaries - sometimes multiple ones for a single episode - most of which are interesting and entertaining and some just flat-out excellent, plus a number of other fascinating features about the show, its milieu, and historical impact. Easily one of the finest BDs I own.

When is Season Two coming out????

Most season sets (of running shows) get released around when the next season starts, to help promote the new episodes. So, look for it this summer.
