HD Must-haves
In these last glory days of HD DVD, are there any movies you would suggest as Must-haves?
I guess nit-picking will always happen.

If you're referring to HD-DVD, one great one to have is Grand Prix. Just got it on CC 50%, and it's worth every penny. Great picture transfer and the sound is suprisingly more robust then you would think for such a dated film. But a great one at that.

Even though I've never owned HD-DVD, I would say Zodiac. Simply because it is one of my favorite movies of all-time (and was unfairly ignored during the awards season last year) and it is low enough under the radar that Paramount may fail to release it on BD for a long time. I hope that's not the case, but I fear it might be.
If you do have a Blu-ray player already, you should ignore some of these earlier suggestions like Planet Earth (which is on BD) and Casblanca (which is supposed to be on BD this year). If you are limited on funds, get the great stuff you think won't hit BD for a while -- like Zodiac, Hot Fuzz, Children of Men, The Thing, etc.

I actually have Planet Earth on HD and SD already. And I could definetly wait on Casablanca on Blu-Ray. I figure if I have two HD players, picking up some great movies in the end won't kill me. I figure that all of these prices are pretty fair considering these titles were $25-$40 a few months ago, so I don't mind paying $12 bucks or even a bit higher if need be.

If you're a fan, I'd probably say "Dune" seeing as it finally received the treatment it deserved.
It's nice that Road Warrior came out HD, but what about the original "Mad Max"?

The one that really blew me away was The Shining. Absolutely amazing transfer, and it's finally widescreen as shown theatrically. Apparently 2001 is also stunning.
For a reference disc, Transformers looks the best of new stuff. I've read Batman Begins is the single best that was made, but don't have it so can't say one way or the other.
