Commando not the extended cut on BD?
By the box art and Amazon listing, it would appear we're getting the old cut instead of the recent Director's Cut. This, yet again, makes no bloody sense and makes me feel like boycotting Fox's BD releases until they start doing shit right.

This particular title was supposed to be out last spring before the extended cut was released.
Now, while it would be nice to think delaying the release was partly to do it right with both cuts, the fact that some copies snuck out last year suggests they are just going with the year old encode, since it's MPEG2 I believe.
I can understand why this release is not the longer cut with branching, but with something like ID4, there's really no excuse.

Like other have said, it's Fox. We're fortunate they're releasing it at all. Although I may wait for an eventual double dip featuring both cuts of the film, assuming the DC is substantially different.
What is new in the director's cut, by the way?

Fox. Never ceases to surprise me. I've been thinking half the world's heroine supply is going to that studio alone.

Fox has been doing me one favor lately. The money saved not buying their titles has been going to Disney's stuff lol.

Fox is definitely a studio you'd love to slap across the face for certain things they do. The highest list price for catalog titles, not offering director's cuts, lack of special features...
BUT...aside some from those very reasonable gripes, the titles they have been releasing lately have been terrific. I, Robot looks/sounds phenominal. ID4, Cast Away, Day After Tomorrow, Fantastic Four 2, Man on Fire, Die Hard 4, The Simpsons, and Sunshine have all been solid regarding audio/video quality.
They have improved over their earlier releases.

So would it be better to just buy the Standard Director's Cut DVD?
The movie was made in 1985 so Blu-Ray might not be that big of a deal.

The sad thing? This is the buying demographic buying right now that the studios cater too on Blu-ray. "where are the explosions and boobies?!?!"

I'll wait for the double dip that has to be coming somewhere down the line.

Didn't know about the line change Killer. I've still never seen the DC so I guess that makes it a littler easier for me, but yeah, no excuse for the inability to branch.

There seems to be more BR releases that are missing significant special features or have mucked up transfers than those that get it all right. Stop the madness!!
