It's sort of frustrating that virtually all of the clearance deals are at stores that don't exist here in way upstate NY: no Frys, Hollywood Video, Movie Gallery, Circuit City, Toys R Us...

And I'm still trying to find good deals on several Warner titles that haven't gone any lower in months.

Which films are worth getting via mediadis? AFAIK, the only HD films not released in North America were Basic Instinct and Brotherhood of the Wolf. At €9.99 = $15-$15 I'm not sure the rest of them are worth it.

EDIT: SHOOT!!! I found one I want, but although it has the language i need it has no English subs.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg. Ran... HD... no english subs... omg...

EDIT2: Curse of the Golden Flower HD... and I think no english subs. hmmm is someone telling me I shouldn't have told my parents I didn't want to learn French as a child..? why didn't they just slap me silly...

Best Buys policy is (emphasis added):
If you've made a BestBuy.com purchase and discover a lower price offered on our Web site or at a Best Buy store on the same available brand and model, let us know and we'll match that price on the spot, tax included.
So, if you've made a purchase they can PM the price; if it's OOS online, you can't make a purchase, they don't PM. It's a lame way to word it, but I think that's why they won't PM OOS items.

Another A-35 on the clearance shelf today at my local BB, they wanted $99 for it. I got an A-35 last week at the same store for $79, so I am not that desperate for another one.. they said they would lower the cost if it didnt sell in the next few days. At $99 it is a great deal, but not when you already got one for a cheaper price, so I will try my luck in a few days and see what happens. Also I saw people there looking for I am legend on HD DVD, they were being told that it was released only on blu-ray today, and would be released the first week of Apr for HD DVD. Weekly add said would be released today on both formats, it was printed by mistake..

I haven't had any problems price matching at my store, but one time. The manager on duty actually wanted me to order it online, but it simply wasn't available (since our store only had one copy left of the movie). He later told me he didn't want to cut into their bottom line doing a price match.

My problem with Best Buy is that this isn't the first time I've been treated badly in the store. And I have never been rude to anyone working there. I work retail also, so I know that if I want good customer service, I'm going to treat the workers with respect. The problem with Best Buy here in Fresno is that it's a being run by 20 something's with no managment skills. Hell one time I even overheard one of the managers tell a customer "Well if you don't like my rules, go shop someplace else, see if we care that we lose your bussiness." If I told a customer that, I'd be fired if that got back to my manager. I think I may call the 800 number just to ask them what the rules are to see if they were in the right or now with what they did.

At Fry's, and it's the HD DVD, not the Blu-Ray. Also, apparently the $12.99 was a mis-price. It actually rang up at $13.99 when I went to grab a copy yesterday, but they gave it to me for $12.99 since that's what it was marked. I checked their website and it's showing as $13.99 there too, so a big YMMV on the $12.99 price. Still, not a bad deal.

You're looking at the wrong part of their policy. Check my quote in post #154. If you buy something at Best Buy and a cheaper, non-web-exclusive price is on their website, they'll match it. It doesn't say anything about it being in stock. If they tried to pull that line, I'd point out that it's available for in-store pickup and ask why it's showing as out of stock on their computer when it's there sitting on the shelf.

I get the hate for Best Buy, but getting them to honor their price matching policy really shouldn't be too difficult as their corporate customer service is pretty solid. I haven't had problems with PM'ing any HD DVDs, but I have had problems with other items in the past. Calling their 800 number and explaining the issue to a rep has always resulted in the manager sucking it up and honoring their company policy.

I've been treated far worse by their customer service reps than employees in the store, for what that's worth...

Back on the clearance front, prices at bestbuy.com have jumped dramatically this morning. Previously $10.49 titles are up to $16.99 and $17.49. Some of the $9.95 Weinstein titles jumped to $24.99. Hopefully this is temporary and not the start of a trend. Seems kind of strange that it came at the same time they announced a $50 gift card for everyone that purchased a player pre-November.

I guess I better get my amazon order in before those prices jump.

Maybe BB is getting ready for a Buy 1 Get 2 Free sale? (Equal or lesser value)

You're right, it seems you can just buy it at full price in-store and then come PM to the website (which really means you ought to be able to just PM right away, and cut out paying full price in the first place). I don't know why, when I looked at the policy on the site, I always saw it mentioning buying from the site and PMing in store; must not have been looking hard enough.

I didn't know about this, but I will for sure be getting a GC for the 360 add-on I bought. I was happily surprised that they included that; I figured they wouldn't have. Hopefully we see the discs go down in price again...

Might be YMMV but a local Hollywood Video store told me that their remaining HD DVDs would be 3 for $25 starting on Friday. Also, stated that couldn't be used in conjuction with any coupon (B1G1, $5 off, etc.)

Got Blade Runner in the regular case at Fry's for $19.99. The 2 extras discs are standard DVDs. The disc with the 3 versions of the movie is kind of scratched, but I won't be able to watch it and see if it needs fixing til I finally get an HDTV (I know I could just watch it on my old TV through the composite video, but why waste my time doing that?) Some titles they have a TON of (like Balls of Fury and Chuck & Larry), so hopefully they'll have to cut the prices on them further. I really want that Anime called "Freedom" since it's the only hybrid disc I know of with HD and standard DVD on one side (HD-DVD players have an option in the setup menus to choose which layer it plays, just like SACD players do for hybrid discs), but can't bring myself to fork over $30.

Wonder whats up with BB raising all their HD DVD prices back up?? Their A-3 and A-35 dont even show up in their website anymore, only the A-30 remains? They are either getting ready for a Big Clearance Sale, or they are sending all the HD DVD's back! Lets hope they have a BIG SALE or at least bring the prices back down..They also start their new "Best Buy Trade in program" on March 21st, where you can take your HD DVD player and HD movies (pretty much any electronic device) back in for a Best Buy Gift card.. I actually tried it and it gave me an estimate of $95 dollars for my A-35 that I bought for $79! LOL But they only estimated my Xbox 360 add on for $25, which is half of what I paid... but still, I think it is a cool little program since they might be reselling all this stuff on their clearance rack for cheap prices, after they make a profit of course

I called Best Buy and they were very nice to me. They told me that they should have price matched the stuff since they had it in their store and that the store and the webpage run from the same company. I asked about the prices going up on the HD DVDs and they said they didn't know anything right now about it, but to keep checking back for more sales. So I'm thinking that there is going to be one BIG sale coming up to get rid of the rest of everything, but there maybe some good deals up on the closeout page since there going to be doing the buy back deal.

Looks like BB is going to start up some sort of trade in program:

It will include HD-DVD.

I imagine it will be pretty laughable.....
