i know...was just tempering the original post that said "most" hd dvds were raised up over $20...which isn't remotely true...wasn't trying to be snippy with it...sorry if it came off like that.

Have to wonder if some kind of sale is ever going to happen though. i've got $50 in best buy cards waiting for that rumored 75% off sale.

Went to Hastings today and they had three aisle shelves full of HD-DVDs. One shelf was all brand new for $12.99. One shelf was all brand new (mostly the combo titles) for $16.99, and one shelf was stocked full of used titles for $9.99 each. I already have everything I want that was on sale - but someone might find something good with this sale...

At Fry's I found that and the Ocean's 11/12/13 box set, which was $33.99 - cheaper than any price I could find online.

bensbargains.net has better deal posted:

The bailout continues. ShopPBS.org has the Planet Earth: Complete Collection on defunct HD-DVD for $30 - automatic 15% off Earth Day promo - 15% code WELCOME15 + $5 shipping = $27. This release includes all the episodes (4 DVDs) from the original BBC production. This is the preferred version narrated by the British Dude and not the Alien Woman.

Mine was weird, the first 15% discount actually came up to about 13.5% once it got in the cart. Oh well, still a good deal, esp. with the new customer discount.
My Gamestop had B2G4 free when I went in last week, but they had total crap, in crappy condition, and not a single HD disk.
WalMart had The Mummy for 12.00, Knocked Up for 17.00, and everything else at their full price. Not finding many deals here.

Ah. Nice. Even though Earth was "in stock, ships in 1-2 days" when I ordered it, i just got the "Backorder, available in 3-4 weeks" email. Which means I won't get it. Gotta love non-real-time inventory systems.

I'm thinking I'll go ahead and pull the trigger on Star Trek TOS S1. $79 shipped is a dandy price and is 20% less than the current best online price (Amazon), which itself is $40+ less than all the other online prices I can find (even Buy.com and DD).

AU$63.48 Star Trek - The Original Series: Season 1 (HD DVD / DVD Combo) (10 Disc Box Set)
AU$20.00 Box set shipping & insurance
-----
AU$83.48 Total Price
1 Australian Dollar = 0.94355 US Dollar (oanda.com, 4/23/08)

US$78.77 Total

I'll just have to invest in new cases, that's all. The packaging looks like teh suck.
