I certainly was tempted by the XA2 but I couldn't pull the trigger at >$250 for a refurbed unit. I picked up my A35 at $135 at BB new. I'm sure it will be fine and the fact that I won't know what I'm missing with the Reon chip.

Gizmo 03-22-08 07:52 PM

If I could grab an A35 for that price I probably would as well. XA2 is the only player I feel will hold its value or increase over time. The A3x generation not so much. But the A35 is a great player anyway.

Quake1028 03-22-08 08:22 PM

I'm torn between trying to snag an A35 for under $150-ish or an XA2 at almost $300. I want a new main player and move the A3 to a backup player.

Did you use a BB coupon or something? The lowest price ever for the A-35 at BB was $149. Open box is a different story as I got an A-35 at BB for $79 that had been sold one day and returned the next, thats about as new as you can get.LOL They are still $149 at BB local stores but not even available online anymore..wont even show up on their search. Anyways, what is so special about a XA2? How is it better than a A-35? Because of a fancy metal remote? LOL

the XA2 has better 1080p60 output (thanks to a bug in the A35) and better upconversion, thanks to the REON chip in the XA2.

It never ceases to amaze me what some people will pay for stuff ($15+shipping for movies available on-line all over for $12) People are idiots

Thats exactly why I put the link to this seller as she has "make me an offer on all her BRAND NEW HD DVD's! I got Shrek the Third for $15 shipped, and then I offered her $11 for Hot Rod HD DVD Brand New, and she just threw it in the same shipping box with Shrek.. So do the math, thats $26 dollars for 2 Brand New HD DVD's... I think that is a great deal. Please let me know where I can get these 2 titles brand new shipped for a better price;)

The XA2 remote can also be a replacement for a home defense weapon, in case of intruders.

Actually I have a GameCube for that. The handle makes it a perfect grab and go weapon. Whack!

Obviously you have never seen or touched the XA2...Its a work of art. Literally.

Also I don't think the A35 remote is backlit (or glow). I wish Sony offered a backlit remote for the PS3. On the subject...any Blu-ray players have a backlit remote at all?

DVD Polizei 03-22-08 10:00 PM

When I first received my XA2, I jumped up and down like a monkey, and threw animal bones into the air.

It seems like it's been reported nationwide at that price. I picked one up earlier this week and it was even marked $37 in the case.

I find it amusing that you called him out, yet neither of the titles he mentioned have been on sale (at Best Buy or elsewhere). That said, I'm certainly not a fan of eBay.

True_Story1011 03-22-08 11:39 PM

I'm sure if you have the paitience and know a couple sites you'll find them for really close to those prices.

Maybe "you" should pay more attention to the replies here..lol I bought about every damn single $9.99-10.49 that my local BB had. My point again is, Shrek the third and Hot Rod were $20+ the whole time during BB or any store sales.. so once again, please tell me where I can get "these" 2 HD movies for $26 shipped??

I am only asking because BB price match guarantee is for 30 days..if anyone sales the same item for less within 30 days of purchase, they will give me the difference. $13 is $13;) It's not on their online store, might have to find a weekly add..

my point exactly:)
I have had many great deals on Ebay, yes you need to have patience and "great" deals only come once in a while, but I have never had any problems on Ebay.

VAMPYRE XX 03-22-08 11:51 PM

Before Christmas I bought Shrek 3 and Hot Rod in a buy one get free promotion they had for one week. Used a $10 rewards Zone coupon and got both for 19.99 plus tax and gas to get there and home. I learned about the Best Buy promo from the store, but shortly after someone posted it here so you would have seen it if you looked. Also, that deal was for ANYONE who shopped at Best Buy. I would rather buy from a trusted seller and know I am getting the ability to exchange it in case it's scratched. Disks come loose in shipping all the time and rattle around in the cases and get scratched.

Once again, if you didnt use that coupon it would have cost you $29.99 plus tax and that was with a one week "buy one get one free" promotion. Still not as good as $26... why wont you people just give up and agree that I got a great deal?? LOL

ps-If you look under my name, I just joined this forum site, so I couldnt have looked for the post. Furthermore, if you would have read all posts in this thread you would know that I just bought my Xbox 360 HD add on and Toshiba A-35 this month, so I just started purchasing HD DVD's the last couple of weeks:)

ps#2- I only bid or purchase items from sellers on Ebay that are power sellers, which mean they have sold hundreds to thousands of items with nearly 100% positive feedback. Out of the 100+ items I have purchased or won on Ebay, I have only had 3 items come to me damaged, and all 3 times I was given my money back, and was also able to keep the items.. Try doing that at BB or your nearest "trusted seller". Just today I emailed a seller on Ebay and asked him why I hadnt received an item I paid for 7 days ago, when I had bought the item and selected priority shipping (2-3 day) He emailed me back and said sorry you didnt get it on time, I will refund your money because of the delay mistake by the post office, and you can keep the item. It was a $40 item, and he has sold over 3000 items on Ebay.. That is a trusted seller if I ever heard of one!

VAMPYRE XX 03-23-08 12:22 AM

I haven't paid more than $14 for any HD-DVD or Blu ray since November 2007 and I have hundreds on both formats. I only buy it if it's a deal. I have found lots of deals from the people on this site. Just wait til Amazon does another buy one get one free then you will know about some deals. I was getting HD-DVD and Blu Ray movies for $6.00 each (after the sale, calling Amazon and getting a price adjustment when the price went up before the 30 days after purchase. They would reimburse you for the difference INCLUDING the free one!). Several people here did that and got some serious deals. I was even selling off all my standard edition versions of the ones I rebought in HD for almost the same amount I was paying for those new ones. Hopefully the super HD-DVD clearance is coming soon so I can get the last few things I want to complete my list.

Its a funny thing, its called the search icon at the top of the page. It doesnt matter if its your first time on the site or not if your wanting information its always a plus. It also keeps the boards less cluttered. :)

I think we all paid attention to the post about you trying to defraud a company out of product you recieved free.

But nothing but love for you, brother... Nothing but Love ;)

Let me get this straight, I am going to search for a buy one get one free sale from Best Buy that happened in Dec?? I have better things to do than read threads from 3 months ago buddy. If you want to keep the boards less cluttered, then why are you posting a pointless reply?

Also, I dont appreciate you accusing me of trying to defraud a company, I simply didnt want 2 movies I already had "brother"..
