I guess I would just prefer to wait a few months for the BD version rather than pay several hundred for one movie.
I see what you did right there.

I just got an email from Amazon about my BEE MOVIE HD DVD order. It says "We are still trying to obtain the product you ordered" and gives me an estimated ship date of 3/27/2008.

Weird.

Weird.

Got the same email.

I wonder why some got canceled and others got this.

If you search completed listings, it's there. One copy sold for $400 and another for $99. Wish there was a way to find out if they really were HD DVDs -- not that I ever would have paid even $99 let alone $400 for it.

My wife is doing some running around today, so I asked her to keep an eye out for it. I do remember finding something similar at Future Shop before, and even though it was out on the shelves, I couldn't buy it since it was marked as no sale in the system. They pulled all of the copies from the shelves. Not positive, but it might have been the original Ed Wood.

For the $400 auction:

"The seller ended this listing early to sell to the high bidder(s) at current bid price"

I would say that the auction was probably cancelled and rather than cancelling the bids, the guy just ended it and told the high bidder that it wasn't available.

My Walmart had a place holder out for it -- $29.95 Bee Movie HD. Nada...

Not likely, as the seller will have to pay ebay fees on the $400 final sale value.

Canceling due to the "item no longer available for sale" is easy on ebay. You lose your listing fee, but that's already gone into ebay's pockets anyway.

But don't you have to cancel all of the existing bids to do that? If both agree to cancel the order, there are no fees either.

You don't have to cancel existing bids to end an auction early, if you are going to sell to the highest bidder. That is quite legal, and occasionally (but not commonly) done. It constitutes a binding and billable sale as far as ebay is concerned.

You can of course then separately cancel the sale to the highest bidder, but it would have been easier to just cancel the auction in the first place.....

I'd pay $400 for a HD DVD copy of There Will Be Blood.

I'll probably pay about $15 or less at some point, good movie, but no hurry.

Woah! This movie was that good?
I'm buying this one sight unseen, so it's good to hear it's worth it.

I am still trying to figure out what was so great about it. I only got through 2 hours for the 2 1/2 hour movie. To each their own though as with everything in life.

A friend of mine who works at Wal-Mart said they had the Bee Movie HD DVD. He said they just received it along with Michael Clayton.

Oh, the location for this store is/was:

Store# 5091
26270 Highway 290
Cypress, TX 77429-1054

No one has seen the HD DVD copy. I doubt just his store got them in and did not put them out.

I believe that this movie was never even pressed and was scrapped just before they started the replication process.
