So they can mouth English but can't speak it? Or would it be their accents would scare people away?

It's funny hearing the same American-sounding voices in every Italian horror film. Have you seen Fulci's Zombi 2? It is very noticeable there too.
Good point about them using virtually the same voice actors every time. Hopefully we'll see more euro horror make its way to blu-ray. This disc has me excited to see more. I thought it would take longer before we would see Fulci on blu. With the likes of Bava, Deodato, Lenzi, Martino, etc there is alot more to get excited about. I'd also like to see some euro crime films hit blu.

I know a lot of Hong Kong films didn't even record sound on the sets, it was all done later. Maybe that is the way the Italians did it too? I've watched so many of them I don't even notice it any more.

Re: Blue Underground on Blu-ray

Blu-ray.com's review of The Living Dead...

And some news from the same site:
Blue Underground has announced that they will bring George A. Romero's Crazies to Blu-ray on February 23rd. For this release, Blue Underground went back to the original film negative for a brand new high definition master. Technical specs have not been announced at this time, though you can expect a 1080p AVC video presentation accompanied by a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Special features for this release include:

* Audio Commentary with Director George A. Romero
* The Cult Film Legacy of Lynn Lowry – Interview with Star Lynn Lowry
* Theatrical Trailers
* TV Spots

Another underwhelming announcement. I thought Romero's Crazies was slow and boring, though I admit I need to give it one more spin.

C'mon, Lustig, get with the good shit already. I want Maniac, damnit!

I was also pretty underwhelmed. I don't go into a B horror movie expecting great acting, but the performances in Crazies were just so amateurish I found them to be a constant distraction. Plus, the whole 'Evil Military' portrayal is such a tiresome cliche, and Romero seems to force it into all of his films. Personally, I'd like to see a few Spaghetti Westerns on HD from BU, plus The Loveless and the three Larry Cohen flicks.

Re: Blue Underground on Blu-ray

Given the remake hitting the same time it was pretty obvious Blue Underground would want to get in on some of the crazy action. I'm down!

Re: Blue Underground on Blu-ray

Got "New York Ripper" on Blu last week and watched it back-to-back with Disney's BD of "Snow White," both blind buys for flicks I'd never seen before. Yeah, I know! The reviews aren't kidding when they say this is a great transfer even on a 25GB disc, the PQ is just shy of perfect (how the movie was shot accounts for the imperfections). The movie disappointed me as far as Fulci is concerned: neither as OTT as I expected nor as crazy-cool as the most insane moments in "Zombi 2" and "The Beyond." What it does remarkably well is use its limited NYC location shots, OK actors (not a single likable character in the whole bunch though) and Italian sets to portray early 80's Manhattan as a hedonist hell on Earth. Those insanely nasty murders and the misogeny permeating the whole film (a Fulci trademark) are to die for though, and the sole reason the movie stands out.

Depending on price (got "Ripper" for $17 at amazon, which tipped me over from maybe to buy) my next BU Blu-ray might be either "Two Evil Eyes" or "'The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue."

Re: Blue Underground on Blu-ray

Of the five or so reviews I've read of The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue, every one but mine raves about the quality of this Blu-ray disc. I'm the odd man out, but for whatever my vote's worth, I'm disappointed: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/38519...er-morgue-the/

It's a shame because I really do love the film.

Re: Blue Underground on Blu-ray

I'd prefer Cat O' Nine Tails and Deep Red to get the release over Maniac first; but would I purchase all of them? Yes.

Anchor Bay owns the rights to Phenomena and nobody knows who owns the rights to A Better Tomorrow I & II after the Anchor Bay releases have gone OOP.

Matthew, Thanks for the info. Do you know if A Better Tommorrow got an Asian HD release?

Didn't the Fortune Star releases come out after the AB ones? (Regarding A Better Tomorrow I and II)

Also thanks for the review Adam. I was thinking about upgrading my AB disc, but I think I'll hold off until I can find the disc cheap.

Definitely psyched about all those releases. Mostly for Vampyres, Django and City Of The Living Dead.

Also Dear Blue Underground, GIMME MANIAC!
