I REALLY want them to start from #1 again. Not sure if those that have lots of regular criterion dvds would be annoyed though...

They shouldnt even put numbers on them at this point... But I guess the completist need a place to start.

I don't think this would be possible. Criterion doesn't have the rights to release some of the titles in the collection anymore.

I think he just means the numbering, not the DVDs that correspond to those numbers.

I agree they shouldn't use them anymore, but they will. It's become a clever gimmick for them to sell more titles to collectors.

Numbering: I hope they at least number them by release or something this time. No jumping from 20 to 200 the same month.

Were their laserdiscs numbered?

I think, when they start releasing on BD, they should start from #1 again (but not corresponding to the same spine #'s as their DVDs), as it would technically be considered a new library. :)

True_Story1011 02-22-08 12:34 PM

They should alphabetize them!

And then once they are done with the 26 letters they should start back up again with Double letters and then into triples!

example:
A - Z = 1-26
Aa - Az = 27-52
Ba - Bz = 53-78
etc.
.....

Ridiculous with numbers, pointless!

Hokeyboy 02-22-08 01:40 PM

Why not hieroglyphics? Not only would they have the most unique numbering system in all of high-definition media, but every case would like the cover of Iron Maiden's Powerslave album. ROCK!!

Yes the LD's were numbered too. But didn't match the spine numbers for the DVD collection.

I'm guessing the titles released for Blu-ray will be numbered as well, but not correspond to any collection on previous formats.

I would like to see Two Lane Blacktop on BD. I've never seen it, but Warren Oates is one of my favorites (I'm not sure why, I just absolutely loved him in In the Heat of the Night) and I read great reviews of the movie. I just can't justify spending that kind of money on a DVD. On a BD, of an obscure classic? Sure!

I purchased this film a couple years ago when Anchor Bay put out that really cool tin edition. I enjoyed the film - It was kinda like Smokey and the Bandit ... without Smokey... or... the... the... bandit.

But it was good!

Hope this helps!
