Surprised at actors' blemishes on HD?
I'm watching No Reservations and was shocked at all the blemishes on Katherine Zeta Jones' face. Don't get me wrong, she's beautiful and has great skin, but in HD she does look her age and has the bumps and ridges everyone else does. She also has this weird indentation on her left forearm, kind of what a druggie abscess looks like (but I'm confident hers is due to something else).
Now Kathering Heigl - perfect skin even in HD.
I kind of enjoy looking at all the bumps and blemishes - makes the actors more real.
Thoughts?

I'm fairly certain they'll figure some kind of solution out soon... likely in time for the end of the format wars.

Without correction all the razorburns, stubble, covered tattoos, etc. can be seen plain as day. It isn't that the industry doesn't WANT to jump into HDM, they just can't with the quality driving the product down. Plus like everyone else involved in HD (e.g. local newscasters, etc.) they need to refine how the handle all aspects of make-up (esp. full BODY make-up!).

Layer Cake was the first Blu-ray movie that I ever watched, and I remember being even more sold on the benefits of high definition than I already was when it got to the scene with Daniel Craig and Sienna Miller in the hotel room. You can see the outline of the tatoo on Daniel Craig's right arm that they tried to cover with make up. I had never noticed that on the dvd.

I noticed this too with Colin Farrell in Alexander. He has multiple tattoos that they tried their best cover up with make up up but you could still tell. On the plus side though Angelina Jolie is even more stunning in high-def

I would suppose these flaws would be much easier to see in the theaters where the resolution/detail is several times greater and the size of the screen is much larger, or do people not go to theaters anymore?
