i just got my ps3 the other day, and my hdmi cable today. is there any way to do video over hdmi and audio over the included cables? my ht receiver doesn't have hdmi inputs

You mean the phono jacks (red/white-L/R) audio?

I really don't know the answer that, but you can run hdmi video simultaneously with optical audio. So it may be possible in your case unless the A/V pack that came with the PS3 obstructs the HDMI port (which I doubt) or the system blocks HDMI video if the A/V pack is plugged in.

It's only the latter case I'd be worried about. Have you tried it?

Yes, it's possible. Go into settings on your XMB. Setup your video. Then setup your audio and set it to whatever you want to use (optical or composite).

I have my video going via HDMI and audio going to my receiver via optical, no problem.
