I don't think I reached the $500 limit either.
However, whenever I cancel a preorder that had the discount, I have that amount available as a discount on any new order.
For example, I just cancelled my Wall Street BD preorder. I had a 2.80 discount on it. I went and placed an order for The Brave One BD, and it got 2.50 as a discount. Then I placed an order for Assassination of Jesse James BD and got a .30 discount.

Mine discount crapped out on 12/31 and haven't ordered again until the $39 Lost set. Initially I didn't get the discount but I fired Amazon an email and played dumb while asking I didn't get my 10% discount I had been getting previously. Two days later they credited my account the $4 discount bringing my total to $36!
So, I may start buying again if all it takes is an email to eventually get the discount.
