Does it have BD Java? Or is that what they also call profile 1?
I have the BDP-1000 and I'm thinking of updating in the next few months and want to know if it will do the job!

Every BD player made can use BD Java. The only difference is how fast and how well each player reads it. Hence why on some standalone players the long load times on certain titles(think Cars or POTC) with heavy BD Java use.

You might also be thinking of the profiles issue. Both the BDP-1400 and your current model are profile 1.0 players. At the moment the only profile 1.1 players at retail are the PS3 and the Panasonic DMP-BD30.
