HDM comparison thread
Is there a list anywhere showing dual format releases that are better on one format versus the other?
Thought with some people starting to replace their HD DVD versions for Blu-ray, it would be interesting to see which titles might be worth hanging onto and/or any Blu-ray titles that might see improvements at some point.

Sopranos Season 6, Pt. 1 has lossless audio on BD but not on HD DVD.
Also, the reviews I have read of Fugitive, GN&GL and KKBB give equal PQ ratings to the BD and HD DVD.

Some people have it in for MPEG2, so if they want to avoid it, at least they'll know what titles have it.

Shooter on HD DVD has a slightly better DD+(1.5 mbps) soundtrack versus BD's regular DD(640kbps). HD DVD is AVC MPEG-4 on HD DVD, MPEG-2 on BD (apparently no visual difference). I believe the BD version is possibly OOP(Paramount), but for how long?

When I started a similar thread people replied that when a title was on both there was no difference. What changed?
It would be a big blow to lose HD-DVD if the quality on those discs was much better than the BD of the same movie. And if there is a signiifcant difference it would interest me to why that would be. Why not put equal quality on both formats (not talking extras)?

I sure hope Paramount embraces lossless TrueHD if they go back to Blu...I would hate to have to be stuck with inferior lossy soundtracks...

I understand the Blu-ray has legacy DD, while the HD DVD has DD+.
