$42.51 shipped. Thoughts?

FF4:2 is a very low-value title on the used/new 3rd party market. I got mine new for 9 bucks not too long ago. I'd get something that'd cost me more, unless it is the only movie you want from the whole group.

PopcornTreeCt 05-07-08 08:40 PM

Fantastic Four Sequel is better than the original. Take that as you will.

mdc3000 05-08-08 10:34 AM

Yeah, I see F4: 2 in used bins all the time for pretty cheap.

You can get the upcoming Dirty Harry Collection on Blu-ray at Wherehouse.com for about $77 including shipping & tax, today only, using code 25MAY9. It's $90.95 at Amazon. The Wherehouse code gives you 25% off all new and used DVDs and Blu-rays, including pre-orders. The upcoming Fox war movies also work out to be pretty good deals.

Holywood Video new Michael Clayton HD DVD

Stopped at the Hollywood video south of Houston at 45 and the beltway to check what was left of the pv HD DVD's and see if they had lowered the price and found to my surprise that they had restocked from the 9 titles that they had been holding for the last three weeks to 15 plus they had 5 new copies of "Michael Clayton" in studio sealed real HD cases tagged as pv for 14.99. Picked up one and a "No Reservations" for 2 for $20. Surprised that they restocked and very surprised that they brought in new stock.

sumdeus 05-11-08 07:51 PM

GizmoDVD, thanks a ton for the heads-up. I had $75 in Reward Zone certs and $199.97 in Gift Cards to spend. Managed to find 12 titles for $0 out-of-pocket, which always feels better :) I'd been saving up the RZ certs for a sale just like this!

I've heard many dismal things about the 28 Days Later release, but is it worth it for $15?

argh923 05-11-08 08:47 PM

What are the *s for?

To denote which are usually $17.99.

Oh, I thought it was for titles where you should wait for better editions. ;)

Gizmo 05-11-08 10:40 PM

Sorry, I copied and pasted it from an earlier thread.

It was filmed using standard video cameras, PAL video, so the max resolution you'll get is 540i or whatever resolution PAL is filmed. The film don't look that bad in DVD in 480p.
I got the Blu-Ray for this and 28 weeks later, and the picture looks... well, like 480i/540i video. I watched it in a 92'' screen so I looked horrendous. The dvd should be fine if you are only looking to watch the movie once. Since I'm a completist and I love the movie and watched the movie several times I just had to have the Blu-ray version. I also have the UK version of the DVD.

Since I didn't own the SD version of 28 Days Later, I went ahead and picked this one up -- along with Bram Stroker's Dracula, which supposedly is another horrendous BD.

ABates21 05-12-08 02:04 PM

Picked up Gattaca and Con Air from the Best buy sale. Went to the instore pickup area to get my order and it wasn't ready, $10 off for me!

Adam Tyner 05-12-08 09:01 PM

Deep Discount has a buy one, get one free sale on the Masters of Horror discs. You can get all 4 for $36.44 shipped.

Gizmo 05-12-08 09:06 PM

Damn! Thats a nice deal. I got suckered into them at $19.99 a pop!

GreenMonkey 05-12-08 09:37 PM

I might have picked up Goodfellas but my local store didn't have it. I would have had to get them to pricematch anyway because the local pickup option wasn't available (despite there being stock of most of the titles).

I just picked up Blade Runner by itself instead, and the BB people took the 10% off coupon (which expired today). $19.07 out the door.

clckworang 05-13-08 09:17 AM

Ha! I guess I should have come here first and I would have known, but I was at Best Buy last night and picked up Blade Runner and Pan's Labyrinth because I saw they were both on sale for $19.99. Imagine my surprise, then, after the cashier rang them up and gave me the price. I was thrilled to get them both for $15 each. Great deal! (Especially since their BDs are usually so expensive)

whotony 05-13-08 09:25 AM

how about the firat season of Sarah Connor chronicles for under $28.

Gizmo 05-13-08 09:56 AM

Thanks! Amazon notified me it was up for pre-order today on DVD...not Blu-ray. Might as well lock in a good price.

Tempting (considering the MSRP).
