Hurry! Sky captain and the world of tomorrow is only $6.95 on Blu-ray. Same with the U2 movie.

Patman 03-14-08 04:52 PM

U2 Rattle and Hum (BD) is now not being offered by Amazon (but other sellers).

$17.05 with the 10% discount.

It's like $15.82 + tax, cheaper than the B&Ms on the standard dvd!

Thanks Amazon.

Thanks Amazon.

I guess I got lucky... I pre-ordered it at $24.95 with a Gold Box discount of $1.25 plus my 10% off the original price.

I had them adjust my price down to the $18.95, and my Gold Box discount was pro-rated to $.95 and my 10% off, so the total I'm paying is $16.10.

Thanks for the post about the I Am Legend price drop. I am blind buying the movie and this makes me feel a bit better about it.

How are you getting 10% off?

Around May 2006, there was an Amazon promo - If you bought a HDM player or bought 3 HDM discs in one order, they would give you an additional 10% off of your HDM movies purchases throughout the year. The offer ran until Dec 31, 2006; when it was supposed to end.

Then, to everyone's surprise, Amazon extended the 10% off promo through all of 2007, for those who had qualified for the program in 2006.

I guess I buy enough that they extended it partially into 2008.

I already knew about that 10% offer, but I hadn't heard about anyone still getting it.

The local Fry's Electronics has all of their HD-DVD titles (except boxsets) on sale for $9.99. Quite an extension selection.

discostu1337 03-15-08 10:39 AM

Damn, i'm going to frys asap!

VAMPYRE XX 03-15-08 10:54 AM

I just went to Fry's here in Atlanta and they haven't started this same sale yet. They did have some on sale but it's just the same ones you can get cheaper on Amazon. This must be just a store by store sale?

Gizmo 03-15-08 12:38 PM

Anyone confirm the Fry's deal?

VAMPYRE XX 03-15-08 12:56 PM

The only deal I saw at Fry's here in Atlanta was all the Weinstein Company titles are down to $9.99 plus tax but they are all even cheaper on Amazon at $8.95 each including tax and if you buy over $25 worth, free shipping.

Gizmo 03-15-08 01:00 PM

Same here, I was the first to report that last week.

Nothing on AVS regarding this deal so I'll wait before driving out. Sucks as I work right next to Fry's but live 30 minutes away...not gonna drive out for nothing.

Mr. Cinema 03-15-08 05:28 PM

World Trade Center 2-disc BD is now a whopping 63% off list price.

$14.95!!!

VAMPYRE XX 03-15-08 06:20 PM

This is a good deal since it's a Paramount title and is considered "Out of Print (oop)" on Blu Ray. I would expect that they will start making it again at some point, but for now it is considered out of production.

Gizmo 03-15-08 06:28 PM

Did WTC just come back in-stock on Blu-ray at that price? I was lucky enough to get Sky Captain for $6.95 on Blu-ray yesterday, but mine has not shipped and has since sold out.

I believe it's been in stock for the last few months. I remember seeing it for the usual $27.95 a few weeks ago.

At that price... it's pretty much a steal.

Planet Earth Blu-ray is $49.99 at bestbuy.com/planetearth. It's $79.99 in-store according to their ad, but it appears you can do in-store pickup with this if you order it online.
