Question about Universal HD.
i was watching a movie the other day on Universal HD and they had commercials in it. :( had anyone else noticed this or was it just an isolated thing? seems kind of lame that not only do i have to pay more for the channel now, but it also has commercials.

It's something they've just started doing over the past week or so.
It makes the channel borderline-worthless to me now. |
At least the films aren't edited... Yet.

Comcast doesn't charge for the channel.

I recently noticed this too. The other night they showed the Robocop trilogy, and as I'm watching they say "with limited commercial interruptions" :(

It wasn't free for me in my area before. It was part of like a four dollar HD channel package with time warner. It now, is free.

In ATL, Comcast added Universal HD for 2+ weeks during the 06 Winter Games and took it off afterwards. But they added it back a few months ago.
Comcast seems to be ramping up their HD offerings in response to the DBS providers, so I imagine it will show up on most Comcast systems in the near future. We got several "HD" new channels a few weeks back and seeing several of them makes me wary of all of them. I used to think that the History Channel HD might be really cool. I did notice a Blu-ray commercial on Universal HD a few days ago, which I found surprising. Maybe they have been showing that one all along and I missed it because they showed commercials much more sparingly last year. But I seem to recall only HD-DVD commercials before. |
