A Blu-Ray win means less choice for the consumer.
(In my opinion at least)
My biggest complaint about BR winning is that ultimately, movie fans will be left with fewer options: Importing European releases will not be an option thanks to BR's implementation of region coding. Yes, many current releases do not have the region code enforced, but I hold no optimism that this will remain the case with no competing format.
Frankly I liked the ability to purchase any import HD-DVD and KNOW that I'd be able to play it, regardless of what country it was released in.
Sure, I know that we can import BR discs from Japan since it's the same region as the U.S. (I just got done watching the Japanese Blu-Ray of Independence Day last night), but Japanese releases are an expensive proposition. European releases were an attractive alternative.
I had hoped for a High Def world without international boundaries. Not so much.

The best BR disc in my collection, thus far, is a UK release, region-free, of a film I don't foresee being released in A-land any time soon.
Clearly as a BR consumer I have been given some very good choices.
Pro-B
