That's the saddest part of this for me. I was hoping this was the year Universal would break out the Hitchcocks, but that seems quite unlikely now.

Oh, probably not. I will just kind of cool it for a while and enjoy the Blu-Ray new releases...

Zodiac is the last one on the release schedule that I plan to purchase. That's not to say I WON'T buy more, it's just the last one announced that I want.

Yes. I may buy the Warner-only HD DVDs (Casablanca, etc) because they may not appear on BD for many years.

You know what, It still doesnt really matter to me.

What I'm wanting now is for people to start dumping their HD-DVD titles... I'd love to get in on this buy in! :yum:

I'm going to get Zodiac and Beowulf: Director's Cut. Those are a given.

Everything else... perhaps. If they are cheap. Hopefully we will at least get some good deals out of all of this.

Yup. I'll get a PS3 eventually, but in the meantime I'll just continue to buy the titles I want and look for the sales. If I get a couple of years out of the player, that will be enough for me to justify the purchase, and since visually Blu-Ray looks no different, having the different formats won't be an issue until the next format war.

It's been a while since I've actually bought any HDM, but I'll continue to review both formats. Once HD DVDs start going on clearance is when I will actually do my spending.

Probably not. With HD DVD dead or dying, I can't justify buying a second player for the family room, so any discs I buy would only be usable in the theater. Besides, I've been a bit tentative in how many discs I've bought anyway, so I don't have near the HDM collection that some have (25 HD DVDs and 31 BDs).

There may be an exception or two that will be "must buy" titles, but for the most part, I'm done.

But now I can think about getting a second Blu-ray player for the family room (finally!), and really start expanding my BD collection.

No. I still feel the pain of owning a couple hundred (and very heavy) LDs that are taking up space. At least HD-DVDs are smaller.

Of course! Especially with the better deals sure to come since everybody is jumping off the bandwagon and jumping on the blu ship acting all smug like they knew this was going to happen (even though most did not).

So bring on the sales!

My HD DVD buying days are over. I have no doubt Paramount and Universal will be releasing in BD this year. And they'll probably start with their newest titles, so as much as I want Zodiac and American Gangster, I will patiently wait on those to be released in a blu case.

Nope. Zodiac is going to be my last HD DVD. Once HD dies, and it's gonna happen, I don't want to have 2300+ SD's, 40-something HD DVDs and then a growing collection of Blu-ray. I'd rather stop now so that once BR players get more affordable I can start building my new collection there.

I don't think I'll buy any more either, which sucks since there are some good discs coming down the pike. If Universal or Paramount drops something extraordinary, I have no idea what I'll do.

Sure. I don't think my buying habits will change as I bought most WB titles on Blu-Ray anyway. I don't have a problem buying more HD DVDs, unless they stop releasing them or release on Blu Ray.

Of course, I don't think WB going Blu-Ray only would have been the death of HD DVD. I mean it's not that different than it was before. But since every one else is doom and gloom, I'm sure the perception out there will help kill HD DVD.

Yeah, I've been somewhat surprised at all the doom and gloom as well, especially from some of the hardcore backers.

I see no reason why I should stop. Just picked up two more HD-DVD titles today actually that I was on the fence about since I don't believe the B1G1 deals will last much longer. Why the panic from some people over this? If you are a film lover not a corporation supporter only, whats the big deal if the high-def version of the film you like comes in a blue case or a red one? (Then again I'm purple, so take it with a grain of salt)

I was an early adopter 'cause I want instant gratification, and as long as HD DVD has exclusive content I want, I'll be buying those titles.

More likely I will continue to buy HD-DVDs but depends on the title and how bad I want it. The way people are jumping ship it is not looking good for HD-DVD.

On the positive side, I no longer have to have a choice when it comes to Warner titles on what format I should get since I support both.
