It appears that Netflix may be positioned to insert itself into a multitude of next generation media devices to included HDDVD, BR and Hybrid players.

While the streaming media may or may not be HD (likely not), I'm curious if this will sway anybody who has yet to transition to move into either or both of the next generation formats.

For me, it is an additional reason to make me move. Initially I was planning on waiting for a cheaper (sub $400) dual format player, but if a technology such as this were an added bonus I think it would make consider buying a more expensive dual format player.

I can't speak for him, of course, but for myself, I rarely rent. I go to the theater to see anything of interest, so I don't have many blind buy situations on new releases. Even with Blockbuster On-line or Netflix, the timeframe/value issue becomes a concern. I'd rather be able to watch it when I want to watch it, without any kind of timeframe issues. I have a three out at a time (gift subscription) and most of the time it goes to waste. I'm more of a theater person than DVD/HD though, so I am probably not the typical consumer in this department.
