This sale started on the 24th at 8 pm.... They were sold out by 10:30. These are LONG gone

Well, they did have them in store today as well... Didn't feel like getting up super early to nab one, but heard lots of people did.

I got to the store at 4:20am boxing day to try and see if I could get this, but there were already a few hundred people in line. Store opened at 6am. If you check some of the online deal forums you will find a *lot* of unhappy people who were unable to get this item (both online and in-store). Guess I'm sticking with the A3 I bought a couple weeks back for $270. At least I got the Matrix Trilogy, Transformers, and Chronicles of Riddick with it, plus the movies in the box, and I will be sending in for the 5 free movies by mail soon.

I showed up at my local Futureshop at 4:30 and had the same problem. It was a "door crasher" item, so if you lined up early enough, you would get a ticket that allowed you to pick one up in the store (in other words, you couldn't just run in, find one and grab it when the store it's doors). Needless to say, I showed up way too late (people reportedly had been lining up since 2am at my location). But a clerk told me that they would be selling A3s for $199, a pretty good price for that item in Canada. They were trying to locate them in the stock room, they weren't on the floor. I thought "screw it, I'm getting a HD DVD player today", so I hung around for a bit, and a guy finally came out with about a half dozen. They were gone in seconds. It rung up at $259, but I got it for $199. Not quite the same deal as the $99 player, but I was still happy getting the A3, and it's nice to finally be format neutral.

BB had the D3s for $200 as well. Idiots were trying to price match the A3 at BB with the D3 @ FS. I guess they didn't notice the piles of D3s in the BB store.

I wish they shipped to the US. I wanted to pick up a few items during their online only Boxing Day sale.

my brother and i lined up a 9pm christmas day (we were #2 and #3 in line).

$99 HD DVD player sounded like such a great deal, until I realized that I'd rather pay the full price so I don't get killed by Boxing Day nut jobs.

I don't even have an HDTV yet, but I would've thought about buying one if I got the $99 HD DVD player.
