New BOGO Blu offer at Amazon with FOX discs ....

Found on FW ...

Link

Some new discs available including Die Hards 1-3, Kingdom of Heaven, and Speed.

Use DVDSAVE5 (with an Amazon Visa) for an extra $5 off each BOGO purchase of $27.95 discs.

Gizmo 12-16-07 11:16 AM

Nice!

Its the Fry's BOGO alone with Die Hards.

kefrank 12-16-07 11:33 AM

I picked the wrong month to refrain from buying movies. Otherwise, I'd pick up Die Hard and Rescue Dawn in a heartbeat.

Gizmo 12-16-07 11:45 AM

I had Edward Scissorhands in my cart and I am struggling to find a second movie. I might as well just pass as a Fry's BOGO is almost guaranteed for Tuesday anyway. Ugh. All the other movies are going for $10-$15 on eBay due to all the recent BOGOs, so its tough to even find a movie I could resell and break even.

PerryD 12-16-07 11:48 AM

Forgot about the $5 coupon! Cancelled and replaced a couple orders. Fantastic Four/Robocop and Day After Tomorrow/Edward Scissorhands, each order was only $17 for 2 movies!

Subtotal of Items: $55.90
Shipping & Handling: $3.97
BN Promotion Applied -$5.59
Super Saver Discount -$3.97
Promotion Applied -$5.00
Promotion Applied -$27.95
------
Total for this Order: $17.36

I don't see Edward Scissorhands in the titles in the link. Are you sure you can get that one?

I went ahead and ordered Die Hard and Die Hard 3. I would get 2, but I'm waiting to see what they're going to do about the lack of DTS-HD MA. I can't decode that kind of track yet, but I'd like it to be there when I can.

RockyMtnBri 12-16-07 11:55 AM

Just grabbed Speed and Die Hard With A Vengeance for roughly $14.50 each!

Engel07 12-16-07 12:01 PM

Yes, it works. I ordered 12 titles for $8.50 each. :)

Good titles but they are high in price.

Drexl 12-16-07 12:30 PM

Well, I couldn't get Cast Away to work. It must be too new. I still got the 2 Die Hards, Edward, and The Fly. Nice deal!

You should know that just from the thread title. Fox has an absurd MSRP structure for Blu-ray. That said, ~$14 per movie is a decent deal for many of those $27.99 titles.

Its not listed, but it works. Castaway does NOT work sadly.

Grabbed Edward and Ice Age 2. I couldnt think of any other movie since I have either owned them all in the past thanks to Fry's BOGO, or they just are not my type of movie. Hopefully Ice Age 2 will be good.

BravesMG 12-16-07 12:46 PM

It sucks I picked up Mr. Brooks this morning from the BB BOGO, but I just grabbed the first 3 Die Hard Movies and Kingdom of Heaven for $44 total (w/ 10% discount).

rexinnih 12-16-07 01:18 PM

Picked up two orders using the DVDSAVE5! Thanks for the post.

From Hell
Speed
Rising Sun
Edward Scissorhands

deto 12-16-07 01:32 PM

PopcornTreeCt 12-16-07 03:41 PM

Cool deal. How is The Terminator transfer?

Anubis2005X 12-16-07 04:22 PM

Picked up the first 3 Die Hards and Speed for $55. Not bad at all!

I've been checking out the BD and HD DVD reviews on DVD Talk (and other review spots) on these BOGO titles, and it's helped convince me not to order some of these BOGO titles. I decided against the Terminator on BD after reading the review on DVD Talk.

This deal rocks! Thank you Amazon!
I made three orders of two each to maximize my discounts:

The Fly
The Devil Wears Prada
The Day After Tomorrow
Speed
Ice Age 2
AVP (after I confirmed that it DOES have the 108 minute unrated version)

All those for $68.85, no tax and free shipping, an average of 11.48 for 39.99 MSRP titles! Those of you with the 10% discount (which I unfortunately do not get) would come out even better! Man, it's like Xmas for me a week early since I was had been hoping someone other than Fry's and their super high shipping costs would have this deal....if I didn't already have the Die Hards and X3 I would have grabbed those too!

Can I ask how you verified this? I haven't gotten around to viewing my copy yet. Just curious...thanks.

tonymontana313 12-16-07 06:58 PM

Picked up Robocop, The Sentinel, Edward Scissorhands, and Broken Arrow (guilty pleasure) with this deal and the DVDSAVE5 code.

I'm never purchasing a Blu-ray or Hd-dvd on release day ever again!!!

I could not find a review of the Blu-ray on DVD Talk, but there was this one on "another" site that states the following:

"Note, however, that Fox has included both the Unrated and PG-13 Theatrical versions of 'Alien vs. Predator.'"

The thing about that though is there are technically 3 cuts of the movie. If you look at the DVDTalk review of the original DVD release, it talks about how the movie is essentially the same as the theatrical but with a small prologue added. Meanwhile, the 108 minute cut was new to the 2-disc Unrated DVD.

This couple with the fact that the Blu-Ray box art states 101 minutes makes me believe the Blu-Ray does not include the extra footage incorporated into the film for the 2-disc Unrated version.

I'm going to pop my Blu-Ray in tonight and see what the actual runtime is.

I had plenty of DVD Planet store credit during the 20% off sale, and broke down and bought the first Die Hard against my better judgment- but purposefully held fast and didn't pick up the other two.

Wanted to blind buy At Worlds End last week, but held fast on that too.
It is just a matter of time.

Blu-rays in particular are just not a wise purchase on street date. I've learned my lesson now. Even the $10 I paid for Underworld from Fry's in Oct (which I thought was amazing) could have been bested handily a couple weeks back.

The only Blu-ray movies I am buying has been Day and Dates (Superbad, POTC3) and I just make sure to hold on to the receipt. Way too many movies were BOGO just days after release on the Blu side (20k, Mr and Mrs. Smith, Zorro, Rent) just in the past 2 weeks.

Just keep your receipts! At this time of year returns can be as late as January 31st of 2008...so if you find it cheaper, BUY IT and return that copy with the receipt where you originally paid full price. I have done this several times now with Blu-ray movies.

candyrocket786 12-16-07 08:33 PM

Die Hard
Die Hard 2
Rescue Dawn
Edward Scissorhands
The Fly
Robocop

Also picked up a PS3 today!

Now I am Format Neutral :D

Gizmo 12-16-07 09:00 PM

Eh.

I have a Borders giftcard with a ton of credit on it, so I went ahead and ordered all 3 Die Hards and A vs. P. I'm still undecided if I am going to ever buy Live Free since its the PG13 cut. If its $14...I might have to bite. Might.

MBoyd 12-16-07 09:13 PM

Thanks guys! I am reading DVDtalk from my hotel in Shenzhen China this morning and took advantage of this deal. :)

RE: AvP

I got off of my lazy ass and popped in the Blu-Ray. When I selected the unrated cut, the display shows a total time of 1hr 48 min, or 108 minutes so it indeed looks like this is the true unrated cut form the 2-disc DVD.

Also, my findings seem to contradict what is stated in the Blu-Ray review here. Maybe the reviewer was unaware of the runtime for the actual Unrated DVD.

Cool. Just ordered it off Amazon.

Artman 12-16-07 11:37 PM

So AVP is the unrated cut from the 2 disc? Thats been keeping me from getting it... that and the hope it might be rereleased with AVPR, but I doubt it it will be.

Bcolon 12-16-07 11:40 PM

Picked up all three Die Hards, The Fly, Rescue Dawn, and Edward Scissorhands.

Rented it from Blockbuster (with one of my free online trade-ins) and compared the run times with my unrated collectors edition DVD....both the theatrical and unrated run times match! Also, you can choose to view the six unrated scenes separately as a bonus feature, and the name and length of those six scenes were the same on both the DVD and the Blu-ray as well....

I too was confused because there was conflicting info out on the web about this issue....two reviews claimed it was only the slightly "extended" cut from the first DVD single disc release, including the one here at this site, while three or four other reviews I read said it was the "real" unrated version...I had to be sure before I ordered, so I wanted to verify for my own piece of mind....

Mercury&Solace 12-17-07 01:41 AM

Nice!
Just copped

DH 2 DH

damnit the DVDSAVES code isn't working for me...

I should be able to get my standard 10% off, the BOGO offer and the extra 5 dollars off - right (and yes I do own a Amazon visa card).

The code is DVDSAVE5 (with "five" on the end, not an "S").
