Fucking Fox. Their asses must be huge to get their heads stuck so far up in them.

Regardless, I see extras don't matter in this case, but they do on Harry Potter. 146 minute runtime with lossless audio is enough to warrant BD50 IMO. No sense crowding it when you don't have to. Even if it only used 30-35 GB, it's still worth it. |

Prediction: Blu-ray blows away HD DVD 2008 is the year Sony's Howard Stringer and the Blu-ray Disc will slay HD DVD as effectively as Joseph Turok dispenses with dinosaurs. If you're unfamiliar with that metaphor, you probably don't have a PlayStation 3. Every PS3 console sold in the U.S. comes equipped with a Blu-ray DVD player. That's an advantage that has put the Sony device in about 2.7 million U.S. homes, compared with fewer than 750,000 for HD DVD. Blu-ray movies also outsell HD DVD movies in Europe by a 3-to-1 margin. This despite HD DVD players costing less than half the price of a PS3/Blu-ray combo unit. True, Paramount, DreamWorks and DreamWorks Animation recently joined Universal in exclusively embracing HD DVD. But those decisions stemmed from a $150 million "incentive payment" that smacked of desperation. To truly understand Blu-ray's dominance, compare titles that are available in both formats. Warner Bros.' "300" is the best-selling next-gen DVD, and Blu-ray boasts an advantage of 66% to 34% over HD DVD in sales of the title. Advertisement The final stake in HD DVD's heart could come from Blockbuster, which is testing both formats. "It's still about 70%-30% in favor of Blu-ray at our stores that offer both," a Blockbuster spokeswoman says. Dual players are expensive, and a recent Forrester Research study suggests that 22% of Americans say they will not buy a next-gen player until one format wins over the other. Couple that with the 25% who say they'll never buy a next-gen player, and the incentives are in place for Hollywood to finally stop confusing the consumer with one too many choices. |

Here, just taken! Not one...Not two...but THREE! No HD DVD...anywhere. http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/4...ylolnx1.th.jpghttp://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1...lol2wc3.th.jpg Biased much? |

This is numbers from several months ago. They may have changed, they may have not. Regardless, when your stocking Blu-ray in 5 times as many stores and carry 4-5times more titles then HD DVD in neutral stores, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? Lets not even consider how "well' Blockbuster is dong right now. 3. That new Turok game is also coming out on the 360, AFAIK.

Funny Shit. I hope the war continues indefinitely. It just guarantees more HD/BD BOGO offers and cheaper hardware for years to come. I can live with that. :D |
whoa that article is super up to date mentioning that nail biting competition at Blockbuster in HD vs Blu!!
|
I'm fond of citing the 4:1 hardware lead in the US and a 3:1 software lead in Europe. Let's talk the 3:2 lead here, and then compare that to the 4:1 hardware lead. Oops.

I just cancelled my Man on Fire preorder. Will wait for a deal on it.

I just bought Ronin from amazon.co.jp. Fuck you Fox for not releasing MGM titles!

Here's a good one floating around, try to connect the dots (just for fun):
Jeff Bewkes Named CEO of Time-Warner effective January 1, 2008 Time Warner Names Jeffrey L. Bewkes Chief Executive Officer, Succeeding Richard D. Parsons Who Remains Chairman November 05, 2007 NEW YORK - Time Warner Inc. (NYSE:TWX) today announced that its Board of Directors has elected Jeffrey L. Bewkes as Chief Executive Officer of Time Warner Inc., effective January 1, 2008. Mr. Bewkes currently serves as President and Chief Operating Officer, and he will retain the title of President. Mr. Bewkes will succeed Richard D. Parsons as CEO, and Mr. Parsons will remain as Chairman of the Board. Despite Time Warner's long alliance with Toshiba, CEO Richard Parsons asked Jeff Bewkes, chairman of the company's entertainment unit, to reconsider the best way to recharge DVD sales. Bewkes decided that the studio should forget appearances and back Blu-ray if it was the format most likely to win consumers' hearts. |
Interesting, but I think this decision, as well as some of the other BD studios was made on the assumption that the PS3 was a sure-fire hit, and it sure seemed a wise gamble, and one I might add that I would have taken until the details of PS3's launch started to solidify.
PS3 being in third place out of three is hardly what the industry expected. |

Harry Potter would be the decision maker, and so far, its all in HD DVD.

"Bewkes decided that the studio should forget appearances and back Blu-ray if it was the format most likely to win consumers' hearts." Warners was HD DVD exclusive. Then went Neutral because of Bewkes. I don't see why you are confused. I am confused now at this. Huh? |
^^ He's insinuating that Bewkes was a Bluray fan, which is why he pushed them to go neutral.
Now that he's CEO, he thinks he'll choose to go Blu exclusive. I would find that extremely surprising. |
Prepare to be surprised.
|
An announcement either way wouldn't surprise me. The only thing that would catch me off guard is if WB said they're bowing out of HDM entirely.
