Urgent!!!! My Hd-dvd Player Is Stuck
I popped in my disc to update my HD-DVD A3 player and now the damn thing is stuck. I had unplugged it hoping to reset it but now it's stuck on "Welcome" and I can't get the disc out.
PLEASE HELP!

Unplug the HD DVD player and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Plug in and hold the power button for 30 seconds - 1 minute
See if it is still stuck. This usually works. It just needs a fresh start.
Edit - I think every CD type machine has a small "hole" where you can put a pin in it and pop the tray open as well. Do it while its unplugged though.

Ok, I'll give it a try.
As for the power thing, I tried that. I plugged it back and held the power button for a long time with nothing happening...
Anyway, I'll give it another try tonight and then maybe leave it overnight. Dammit, why did I feel the need to update the thing tonight????

Just gave it a try and still nothing. There's no small hole and I held the power button for over a minute with nothing happening... Guess this will be a long weekend since I won't be able to get a hold of anybody at Toshiba until probably Monday.

Does it even sound like the tray is attempting to eject?

No.
I got it to turn off by holding the power button down but when reobooting, it just sat there. I'm going to try and take it back to Best Buy and exchange it since I only recently hooked it up. Because I'd rather not have to send the damn thing to Toshiba (at my expense) and wait who knows how long to get it back...

I decided I'm going to try and exchange it at Best Buy Friday afternoon (after the Black Friday madness has died down). Hopefully they'll still have a few in stock.

If you're mechanically inclined at all, you can remove the screws on the case and pop it off. Inside, you should easily be able to access a tiny hole or "button" that will eject the disc.
Make sure the player is unplugged and let it sit for 5 minutes before you open it up, and also make sure to ground yourself before touching anything.

No thanks. I'm just going to return the entire thing and let BB deal with it. I don't want to take any chances.

Just an update but I took it back to BB this morning with no issue at all.
