Laser Movies

Received my 5 free Blu-ray movies today. Sent in everything around the end of January. When I called last week to ask about the status they said they mailed them March 17, so it took a week to get to me. However I received few of the movies I requested and had several substitutions including a title I already own.

Here's a breakdown of my requests from each category and what I received. At least they didn't gouge the UPC labels and cases like they did with some of the free HD-DVD titles I received from an earlier promotion.

Category 1: Requested Pirates of the Caribbean and received Wild Hogs

Category 2: Requested Superman and received Superman

Category 3: Requested Stir of Echoes and received American Pshycho

Category 4: Requested Swat and received the Patriot (already own it!)

Category 5: Requested Flight of the Phoenix and received Flight of the Phoenix

Damn, I should be getting my discs for the Sharp player soon and I hope I don't end up with some of these as substitutions since I already own many of those and they have very little resale value. Half and Ebay are already flooded with the free Blu-ray titles.

Mine came today, sent in late January. Was never in the online system, but I never called to check either.

Two substitutions: The Prestige instead of Pirates 1, and Last Waltz instead of Hart's War.

Received Swordfish, The Patriot, and Stir of Echoes as ordered.

Just called tonight about this promotion (I had forgotten all about it!). I was not in the online system, but when I called the 800 number, they said "they had been shipped out today" (what a coincidence....) and should receive them in 3 or 4 weeks. I'll probably get them tomorrow!

Sounds like a lot of subs for Pirates 1 - that's the only movie of the five that I really care about.

Got mine Friday, I was never in the system, and had no idea. they just showed up. I forgot how lame ass the selections were, but at least i got em.

Been 6+ weeks, and I'm still not showing up in the system online.

Just got mine today, sent in Jan. 30. Got all the titles I asked for... The Prestige, Superman, Stir of Echoes, Ultraviolet, and Species.

Prestige and Stir of Echoes are the only ones I really wanted... will probably trade away the rest.

I'm happy to report that I received my discs today, rebate form was mailed on February 13, so just about six weeks.

The UPC's were intact and I got all of my picks:

American Psycho
The Last Waltz
The Patriot
Full Metal Jacket (remastered)
POTC (with slipcover)

Now to decide what to watch first!

Nope. Ended January 31st and is not expected to make a return until maybe the Holidays.

I'm guessing we won't see this again. It was in response to HDDVD's aggressive giveaway (at least IMO). I think they'll stick with free or reduced players in conjunction with HDTVs of the same brand

Called and they said mine were sent in the mail on 3/20. Sent for them on 2/4.

I'd rather have free Blu-ray players with purchase of HDTV instead as well. I don't think we will be seeing any "reduced" players any time soon however :-(

If players really do drop in price to $249 - $299 they won't give you $125 worth of software. Not without pressure from competition. However with wholesale cost maybe $180 - $225 it would be fairly easy to include it in a $2000 HDTV and recoup the cost very quickly when the person buys their first few titles.

I got a letter back with my envelope and materials minus the UPC along with a letter saying that I didn't submit the UPC with my rebate.

I KNOW that I sent in the UPC and I'm 99% sure I've got a photocopy around here somewhere of it. Hopefully they'll take the copy instead of the real one since they somehow lost my UPC at their fulfillment center. :/

This pisses me off so bad, no I'm going to have to wait another three months for my movies.

Can anyone confirm is the Pirates(1) is the new version aka not with the framing issue.
