Which format(s) do you have?

I'm currently just in the HD-DVD camp. You?

True_Story1011 11-03-07 11:38 AM

both for almost a year

Hammer99 11-03-07 11:51 AM

Both is the only way to fly.

TheMovieman 11-03-07 11:53 AM

HD-DVD. Unless BR comes down in price (or wins the format war), it'll remain that way.

rexinnih 11-03-07 11:56 AM

That would be both for me.

ScottsDvds 11-03-07 11:58 AM

Both.

RonZombie 11-03-07 12:06 PM

360 add on and PS3.

Me too.

CapRockBrewingCo. 11-03-07 12:12 PM

HD only since April of this year.

I would go neutral if BD made a fully compatible stand-alone player for less than $399.

dsa_shea 11-03-07 12:26 PM

2 PS3s
1 HD-A30 Player

Arpeggi 11-03-07 01:06 PM

Both.

Toshiba HD-A35
Sony PS3

Doughboy 11-03-07 01:20 PM

Both.

1 HD-A1
1 HD-XA2
2 PS3s

I've had HD-DVD since July '06 and Blu-ray since December '06.

darkside 11-03-07 01:23 PM

Both

1 HD-A2
1 PS3

Very tempted to get an additional HD DVD player, but the one I bought yesterday for $99 is a gift.

I stopped caring about this war months ago. Movies that I want come out and I buy them. They can both live on for all I care. A year or two from now we will have cheap combo players anyway so all of our collections will be fine even if one format dies.

davidlynchfan 11-03-07 01:23 PM

Both altough i'm beginning to drop my blu-ray support. I only have like 6 blu-ray exclusive titles and spidey, potc and pixars just arent my cup of tea really.just me though.

Michael Corvin 11-03-07 01:25 PM

Both. Bought on the same day.

PS3
360 HD-DVD

codenamexen 11-03-07 01:32 PM

Was a pretty staunch Blu supporter, then BAM, I saw the Wal-Mart $99 deal on the HDA2 and now I'm purple.

Have way, way more Blu movies at the moment, but I've only supported both for about 18 hours so far :P

Maxflier 11-03-07 01:33 PM

HD DVD exclusive here.

shanester 11-03-07 01:50 PM

If you can afford it both it's the only way to go imo

The studios can keep this format war going I really don't give a shit who wins as long as they keep releasing more and more movies I'm happy

pro-bassoonist 11-03-07 01:55 PM

Blu-Ray exclusive!

Pro-B

JackBurton 11-03-07 02:02 PM

HD DVD exclusive.

If Blu can get their act together with a "final spec" player that is at my price point, I'd consider going neutral.

Tracer Bullet 11-03-07 02:10 PM

HD DVD only. BD is just too expensive for me.

PopcornTreeCt 11-03-07 02:11 PM

Both

I can understand trying to be "noble" by supporting one format because you want it to win, but much like voting for the president you have nearly nothing to do with the outcome. And more importantly, when you're supporting one format, you're only hurting yourself.

tonymontana313 11-03-07 02:15 PM

Both. I have 2 PS3s, 1 HD-A2 and 1 HD-A3. 82 BDs and 26 HD-DVDs.

Infrared Sight 11-03-07 02:15 PM

HD DVD thanks to walmart. No software for now, planning on getting some next week. :)

islandclaws 11-03-07 02:29 PM

HD as of a little over a week ago. I'd go Blu, but the prices just aren't where I need them to be.

obispo21 11-03-07 06:41 PM

Both for about a year - bought a HD-A1 a few months after launch and a PS3 at launch.

Even though I've probably spent more on BD, I prefer HD DVD by a pretty good margin.

mbs 11-03-07 06:44 PM

Both for me (and both via gaming consoles).

deto 11-03-07 07:02 PM

both. i prefer blu, however.

 Same here.

Is it just me or does it seem that most HD-DVD only people would consider buying BR if it lowers in price yet most BR only people state they will only consider BR and nothing else?

What is their reasoning since so many HD-DVD people seem so open to owning both formats? Are they justifying their high price purchase by refusing other formats? Do they just love Sony that much?

mdc3000 11-03-07 07:47 PM

Both...I was HD DVD exclusive for about 3-4 months but I couldn't take missing out on some releases so when I had the cash I got into blu-ray... now I never have to worry about format and can just enjoy all the HD movies I can get my hands on.

Arpeggi 11-03-07 07:58 PM

Blu-ray has a lot of those stupid 15 year old fanboys.

QuePaso 11-03-07 08:14 PM

Blu Ray exclusive. I was tempted by the 9 free HD DVDs + A2 for 99, but i passed. I have more BD movies and PS3 games to go through then i have time, no need to extend the war anyway.

PhantomStranger 11-03-07 08:22 PM

What a shock to find that this board has very few Blu-ray exclusive supporters. I would never have imagined that

rdclark 11-03-07 08:22 PM

Just HD-DVD.

HD discs are too expensive, so I only rent, and a BR player is too expensive just to play rented discs.

I only need one upconverting player, and the HD-A2 is entirely sufficient for that.

No, what a shock newbie, we have a board that is usually civil to one another no matter what side of the format "war" you on.

Bacon 11-03-07 09:01 PM

HD DVD only
No Blu Ray- why would I buy Betamax on disc? ;)

Gizmo 11-03-07 09:02 PM

..Or maybe its because there are more HD DVD stand alones sold?
..Or maybe its because the Blu-ray crowd is too busy writing letters to Paramount? :)

Wick 11-03-07 09:03 PM

Both - PS3 and 360 add-on.

vcuram 11-03-07 09:17 PM

Both. I don't care about the format war or all the bickering, I just love my PS3 and HD-A2 and all the movies I can watch.

Arpeggi 11-03-07 09:27 PM

Because we are more interested in watching all the movies we want in Hi Def than picking a side and fight a bullshit "war".
