Both for about a year - bought a HD-A1 a few months after launch and a PS3 at launch.

Even though I've probably spent more on BD, I prefer HD DVD by a pretty good margin.

mbs 11-03-07 06:44 PM

Both for me (and both via gaming consoles).

deto 11-03-07 07:02 PM

both. i prefer blu, however.

 Same here.

Is it just me or does it seem that most HD-DVD only people would consider buying BR if it lowers in price yet most BR only people state they will only consider BR and nothing else?

What is their reasoning since so many HD-DVD people seem so open to owning both formats? Are they justifying their high price purchase by refusing other formats? Do they just love Sony that much?

Both...I was HD DVD exclusive for about 3-4 months but I couldn't take missing out on some releases so when I had the cash I got into blu-ray... now I never have to worry about format and can just enjoy all the HD movies I can get my hands on.

Blu-ray has a lot of those stupid 15 year old fanboys.

QuePaso 11-03-07 08:14 PM

Blu Ray exclusive. I was tempted by the 9 free HD DVDs + A2 for 99, but i passed. I have more BD movies and PS3 games to go through then i have time, no need to extend the war anyway.

PhantomStranger 11-03-07 08:22 PM

What a shock to find that this board has very few Blu-ray exclusive supporters. I would never have imagined that

rdclark 11-03-07 08:22 PM

Just HD-DVD.

HD discs are too expensive, so I only rent, and a BR player is too expensive just to play rented discs.

I only need one upconverting player, and the HD-A2 is entirely sufficient for that.

No, what a shock newbie, we have a board that is usually civil to one another no matter what side of the format "war" you on.

Bacon 11-03-07 09:01 PM

HD DVD only
No Blu Ray- why would I buy Betamax on disc? ;)

..Or maybe its because there are more HD DVD stand alones sold?
..Or maybe its because the Blu-ray crowd is too busy writing letters to Paramount? :)

Wick 11-03-07 09:03 PM

Both - PS3 and 360 add-on.

vcuram 11-03-07 09:17 PM

Both. I don't care about the format war or all the bickering, I just love my PS3 and HD-A2 and all the movies I can watch.

Because we are more interested in watching all the movies we want in Hi Def than picking a side and fight a bullshit "war".

I get that vibe too and I don't get it. Even with the $99 HD sale this weekend, BD people still bitching and holding out. That is an insane price and there is NO reason to not jump on board to be format neutral at such a low cost. Especially considering you still get the 5 free movies.

 I buy movies and I want to watch them in HD when possible. Whether I put the disc in player A or B to watch the film is meaningless.

myrdh 11-03-07 09:47 PM

HD for now, BLU by year end.

I'm supporting only one right now, but it's because I can't afford to go Blu-Ray. I really don't like Sony or their products, but either way, their players (and discs, even used) are too damn expensive. I went to Rasputins the other day and grabbed 2 HD-DVD's for $20 (The Good Shephard and Flags of Our Fathers) whereas BR DVD's are $20 each.

HD DVD only for well over a year now. But I hope to pick up a Blu-ray player in the next few months, now that Profile 1.1 players are becoming available, if I can find a good price. They're not inexpensive enough yet, but they are getting closer.

I mostly Netflix discs except for "must have" favorites.

ToddSm66 11-03-07 10:47 PM

HD DVD only for me. There are only a small handful of titles exclusive to Blu Ray that interest me...not worth the money for me at this point.

The Bus 11-03-07 10:53 PM

HD DVD and Blu-Ray. I went into Blu-Ray once The Lives of Others came out. I'm not entirely sure Sony thought that would be a system seller, but it got the job done for me.

I still buy my software in HD DVD (for WB movies), as I see myself getting a 2nd HD DVD player much, much sooner than getting a second BD or BD-capable machine.

GatorDeb 11-03-07 10:55 PM

HD-DVD only for now. I plan to buy a PS3 in the next year or so.
